Hulsizer question for Coyotes fans

Blues fan here; I come in peace.

In Andy Strickland's(one of the Blues writers) latest blog he mentioned that Hulsizer will be bringing a "hockey guy" into the organization with him who could be replacing John Davidson as our President.

I know when he was interested in the Coyotes he mentioned that he had an "A player" in mind to take over as your new President.

Were any names ever brought up as to who that person was going to be? If JD is going to be replaced we Blues fans would like to know who's going to be taking over the job.

I remember hearing that, but I don't know if we ever heard names.

John Weisbrod was a name I'd heard - don't know if it was idle speculation or if there might have been a modicum of accuracy in it.:dunno:

Whatever MH claims to be planning, please take it with a healthy dose of skepticism.

why would he do that if we keep on empowering him by responding to it?

I never heard a name, but do remember the "A" player bit.

I would be very wary of Hulsizer. He once stood behind me toward the end one of one of the games last season and sounded less than intelligent as he tried to somehow grunt the team to a tieing goal. It annoyed the hell out of me and I missed a fraction of the game as I turned around to see who the grunting idiot was.

It was humorous though, in that I had turned to my son and aked him who was the idiot grunting behind me. I did not hear his response and that is when I turned and saw it was our potential owner!

Attacking the person when not attacked personally is a sign that the attacker lacks the substance to challenge someone in an argument.

There is negativity and there is the truth. mesamonster is right in certain areas and is right on with MH.

Oh no!!! Remember AP its only ok to attack JR and depending on the poster here Ice Edge but dont dare to attack MH or that Greg guy from San Jose.

Amazing

We have certain users here who accuse anyone with a "relocationist" mentality of being intolerant towards anyone with a different opinion but yet have become excatly what they loathe. *cough* *cough* attacking LT *cough* *cough*

When you become what you loathe that means you become part of the problem instead of someone doing something about the problem.

Anyways back to the topic. If MH believed in this market then he would be willing to throwdown more of his own money regardless of what the asking price is.

BS.

Hulisizer believed in a market worth a $ 100M investment, and even that was optimistic. No one - NO ONE - would think this team is worth $ 170 M.

The only that's changed in our favor since then is Atlanta moving to Winnipeg. I could imagine the relocation fee being applied to a discount on the asking price for the Coyotes. Otherwise, there's just no way out of this mess.

Except some people will argue that if there is unlimited market potentional here to make an unlimited amount of money then anyone would be willing to overpay for the team will make up the $70 million dollar difference with little to no problems along the way. In a sense that $70 million would seem more like someone earning a check after 40 hours of hard work in 1 week and not 70 million being earned after years and years of blood sweat and tears.

Also Huliser believed the market was worth 70 million and was wanting Glendale to come up with the other $100 million to cover the cost. Also if we started a sellout streak when it mattered the most then other potentional owners would be willing to spend more of their own cash on the team.

No one has said that ever.

He's correct about most of this absurd situation whereby in which folks of the valley that claim to be hockey fans refuse to support the home team, only support when winning, or choose to only support the teams from the cities they used to live in. It's a dynamic that obviously will not work without an owner with a big enough set to not only purchase, but strive to succeed. Success will win these same people over and with time solidify the fan base. The challenge will not be for the faint of heart and there is most likely someone out there with the courage to take on the role.

The logic of constantly rubbing actual fans of the teams noses in the situation is what most likely annoys those same fans.

A sell out streak.... LAUGHABLE in this apethetic community of fairweather fans!

Nope, I remember him saying he'd cover the $ 25M losses for that season, for which Glendale was on the hook. The city would issue $ 100M in bonds and would receive $ 25 M cash back. So the actual up-front cost ended up being $ 95 M from Huslizer, $ 75 M from the city.

Then there's a whole arena management fee, with $ 17 M going from the city to the Coyotes annually for the first 6 years, and $ 6 M going the other way, plus parking fees, which Hulsizer guaranteed to be at least $ 2.5 M / yr ($ 75M over 30 years). So you could say the city was going to subsidize $ 8.5 M / yr to pay for the team's annual losses for the first 6 years, but that's a whole other story.

I believe near the end there Hulsizer actually offered to purchase the Parking Bonds himself or through an investment arm. Very much illustrative how hard he tried to make it work yet fatally, he had a timid & weak partner in the COG. Quite frankly, he didnt help his cause much in over-complicating the deal through triangulations, raising serious questions, red flags. On the plus side of the ledger, it bought Glendale another year, establishing parameters while creating the kind of environment in which the NHL/JR/GJ & the COG should be a able to complete a transaction that see's the team staying put under the guidance, finally, of people who know what their doing & give a frigg. As for Hulsizer himself, Im not overly impressed with the cut of the guys jib, wary, but really, the Jurys' still out and who the Hell am I to Judge? Lets just wait & see how it fans out up in Missouri...
