The Swedes are doing it, so let's look at us..

K Lehtonen
T Rask
H Toivonen

T Ruutu-O Jokinen (C) -L Tukonen
J Jokinen-M Koivu (A) -S Bergenheim
J Immonen-L Korpikoski-P Nokelainen
L Petrell-J Joensuu-J Rita

N Hagman, N Kapanen, V Filppula, T Nurmi, V Nieminen

J Pitkänen-O Väänänen
T Laakso-R Korhonen
M Lehtonen-S Lepistö
O Korpikari-T Söderholm

T Lydman, A Berg, M Kalteva, K Timonen (A)

*Players picked at random as they popped into my head
**Nieminen-Kapanen-Petrell <- line seems to have it all!
***I missed a 101 players, yes.. but look at how deep we are at centre!!
****Considering it's only 6 years from now, theres too many current players ignored.. but still.. see * #1

Looking at that centre depth.. Jokinen, Ruutu, Koivu, N Kapanen, Hahl, Joensuu, Immonen, Korpikoski..
Jokinen's become the natural successor to Saku for the national captain.. and unless circumstances chance, I see him as the next Finland captain..
Timonen would make a good assistant to OJ, but then again, people will think it's a Kuopio mafia thing..

I'd like to think that Nokelainen will have surpassed the likes of J.Jokinen, Bergenheim and so on on the depth chart. I think Miettinen might be there too.

Jesse Niinimäki could end up being a lot better offensively than Mikko Koivu. Also Valtteri Filppula has a lot more offensive flair than Mikko, who in my opinion would make an exceptional 3rd-line centre. Putting Petrell on that team is just brutal though.. Mine:

Ruutu-Jokinen-Joensuu
Tukonen-Filppula/Niinimäki-J. Jokinen/Miettinen/Korpikoski
Bergenheim-M. Koivu-Nokelainen
Rita-Hahl/N. Kapanen-V. Nieminen

Pitkänen-Väänänen
Laakso-Lydman
Lepistö-Korhonen
Berg
Söderholm

Lehtonen
Toivonen
Rask

I think we could take Sweden with this team..

I agree with you there, but Korpikoski-Nokelainen could be better as a duo than apart..

I agree about Petrell in principle, however he could be the "next" Jarkko Ruutu, or whatever, and as such be an important 4th liner..
At least the goalies are easy =)

And yes, Sweden would have a mountain to climb against this team of 2010..

We'll just have to wait 6 years to see! It could be a battle to remember. I have faith in our team, and just like ours, your team look really pysichal.

Having only seen Filppula at the last two WJCs, I'm assuming he can then deke four Czechs out of their equipment as Mikko Koivu only managed three in a row.

Why do you have Kimmo Timonen as a extra D?

Why do you have Kimmo Timonen as a extra D?

It only occurred to me after I'd typed it all out that Timonen woudnt be that old then.. but I took the easy way out and put him in on the bench :D

But also, other countries dmen play long careers to near 40 years old and are still at the top of their game, Finnish defenders too often seem to slip badly (Lumme, Laukkanen..)

But I'd be thrilled if Timonen would have a Chelios like career where he still rules at almost 40.
