What to expect of individual prospects over the course of the entire season? Something simple, preferably tangible and just the main point or two. I was planning to post this before opening night, so I disregard all regular season games played so far.

Jokinen: 45 points
Kalteva: 45 games
Kantee: 10 points
Korpikari: 10 points
Korpikoski: 40 games and close to 10 points
Lassila: top 5 in Ylönen voting
Lepistö: close to 20 points
Louhivaara: top 3 in Wasama voting
Mäntymaa: in SM-Liiga all season
Niinimäki: 35 points
Niskala: 40 points and legit WC candidacy
Nissinen: 15-20 starts and >.905

Nokelainen: 20 points and postseason national team (the first exhibition games)

I've seen 3 of his games this year and he has capability for 30+ points. Hope so.
So far 3 games played 1+0.

I think Immonen is going to lead the league in scoring (or at least top 3). Im a Ranger fan, but its definetley not unrealistic, is it?

Just curious why are the expectations for Korpikoski so low?
I have no idea how the leagues are so I am not questioning the thought, just wondering why

Comparing three first-rounders of 2004, Korpikoski plays for best team, then Tukonen and then Nokelainen. It's impossible to think that Korpikoski could fit in first 2 lines, even 3rd line is difficult. Tukonen has been 3rd liner so far, I haven't seen Nokelainen playing yet.

I was going over the game-stats in ES's thread and noticed that Wiikman is playing well (I believe 2 S/O's in 4 games?) Where did he come from? Was he drafted?

He hasn't been drafted. He played most of his junior career in Sweden, before moving to Hermes (Mestis team) year ago. He was chosen best rookie of Mestis last year. He has dual nationality (Swedish/Finnish)

Mestis is 2nd tier league in Finland.

Wasn't Wiikman the guy who gave up his Swedish "eligibility" in favour of Finnish?

If so, we really need to start trading goaltenders with other nations, this is getting ridiculous!

I'm not sure, if he has "given it up". He has played for both junior national teams. Where does the line go? Dunno, just asking out of curiosity. :dunno:

Didn't you try that already with Salo?

(Sorry, didn't notice this thread was so old!)

Lauri is actually playing so well theyve bumped him to first line.

Hows Jokinen going?

11 GP, 6G+3A=9PTS, +7, 4PM

He's playing in Kärpät's 3rd line with Janne Pesonen and Pekka Saarenheimo. He leads Kärpät in scoring and points currently. 6th best scorer in the FEL and 14th in points.

As the season is reaching halfway soon, I decided to look back and see how it looks.

Filppula: 30 points
- so far 26 games and 15 points, so he keeps going like this he does it.

Immonen: 45-50 points, WC and improved physique
- going better than that as he is leading scorer with 27 points

Jokinen: 45 points
- shortly dropped after best form, but 23 points so far

Kalteva: 45 games
- still in juniors, not reaching that

Kantee: 10 points
- 26 games and 2 points. Not going to reach 10. If Jokerit defense stays healthy, not very much can be excepted.

Korpikari: 10 points
- Missed over a month because of injury. No points so far.

Korpikoski: 40 games and close to 10 points
- Reaches games if he stayes healthy (missed 6 so far and some games go because of WJC), but not going to get 10 points I think. Hasn't scored yet.

Lassila: top 5 in Ylönen voting
- Going to be very interesting. So far he is 6th in save percentage if we count only starting goalies.

Lepistö: close to 20 points
- 11 points so far, so 20 is within reach.

Louhivaara: top 3 in Wasama voting
- Wiikman and Vidgren look to be in top 2 right now, but there is tight battle about 2rd place.

Mäntymaa: in SM-Liiga all season
- Has played 12/26 games only.

Niinimäki: 35 points
- Left SM-liiga already. Got 8 points in 18 games, so wasn't going to get 35.

Niskala: 40 points and legit WC candidacy
- Has been a lot worse than last year. Only 10 points so far.

Nissinen: 15-20 starts and >.905
- 7 games and .879 so far.

Nokelainen: 20 points and postseason national team (the first exhibition games)
- 8 points (6 goals) so far.

Nurmi: 10-15 points
- No way, no points so far and only 18 games

Pesonen: 30 points and to carry himself
- 14 points in 27 games, so he is near to 30 points

Petrell: 35 games
- 17/28 games so far, and has been in the roster lately.

Piispanen: 15 points
- 4 points so far.

Salonen: in SM-Liiga once recovered
- Not recovered yet

Seikola: 15 points
- Looking good, 8 points so far.

Tenkanen: 15 points
- Injured, 1 point in 5 games.

Tukonen: close to 20 points
- 6 points now, same he got last year. Slightly injured just now.

Wiikman: 20 starts and >.920
- Became starting goalie before Noronen joined HPK. Biggest favourite for rookie of the year.

Viuhkola: 60 points and WC
- Injured and not able to get 60. Was one point short of point per game.

Damn, I was planning to do this during Karjala Cup. From a slightly different point of view, ignoring my expectations and looking at things from an angle as realistic as possible:

++ Filppula: playing even better than stats indicate despite military service

= Immonen: a lot of points but little well-roundedness and consistency

+ Jokinen: lagging in assists but totally dominating, was better until recently

-- Kalteva: injured, mistreated and unmotivated

= Kantee: can't do better with a normal performance right now

- Korpikari: lost his preseason touch

= Korpikoski: met the requirements, the learning process must yield results soon

= Lassila: neither glamour nor improvement, just results

++ Lepistö: ahead of schedule in both ends

- Louhivaara: ineffective

- Mäntymaa: not learning

-- Niinimäki: decided to keep running against a wall

--- Niskala: so that's where the old Janne went

-- Nissinen: not the reliable backup that was wanted, keeps getting let down by team

= Nokelainen: the road is bumpy but leads to the right place

-- Nurmi: downright paralyzed

- Pesonen: the points are there, still leechy though

= Petrell: precisely as expected

- Piispanen: not too hot right now

n/a Salonen

+ Seikola: solid

= Tenkanen: kept in square one by injury

- Tukonen: poor supporting cast, needs to show more initiative

++ Wiikman: meeting the most optimistic expectations

= Viuhkola: got the engine running eventually, didn't show much in Karjala Cup
