HF NFL "Loser Pool" - Week 4 (ONLY FOR WK 3 SURVIVORS!)

The G Man
09-28-2004, 02:11 PM
NOTE - THIS IS ONLY OPEN TO THOSE FOLKS WHO PLAYED AND WON THE FIRST 3 WEEKS OF THE SEASON

Week 3 saw only 1 of our remaining 22 entrants pick a winner (hockeyfan02). In addition we had 3 people who failed to vote (AJW, Chubarovrocks, and uzziman) and thus are eliminated. My apologies to uzziman who did not "vote" in week 2, but rather created a reply with his selection which I failed to see. That leaves the following 18 individuals alive for week 4:

Week 2 Poll (http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.php?p=1898378#post1898378)
Week 3 Poll (http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=104896)

(For those who don't know what it is, this is a pool where each week you pick a team in the NFL who you think will lose. If they end up winning, you're eliminated. And once you choose a team, you can't use them again. I've made the pool into a 15 selection public poll format so that your selection will be recorded for you. I've tried to pick the worst 14 matchups for the week and made selection 15 "other" which will require you to reply with your selection.)

My heart says Jacksonville, but my head says Buffalo. Since Jacksonville has already made 3 upsets, and Buffalo sucks, I'll go with my head on this one.

Buffalo

I would pick Buffalo against New England but people tend to forget that this pretty much exact Buffalo team minus the injury to Lawyer Milloy beat the pats 37-0 in week one last year.Plus their playing buffalo at home.To risky for me

I think that all the Flyers fans are banding together and picking against the teams the Eagles play. Smart move, considering they've looked unstoppable.

Guido's pick for the week: Chicago gets embarassed at the new Soldier Field by Philadelphia. With the loss of Rex Grossman for the season, this only adds to the long laundry list of problems that Chicago has. Inexperience at WR, shaky defense missing key components, and now a QB that will get hit early and often by Philly's defense. The only threat Chicago has is the running game, which also should be snuffed out early.

Give me Da Bears this week.

Yeah, I have a funny feeling about the Pats as well. They have to lose some time and Buffalo will be up for the game. I'm not sure who I'm going for yet.

Looks like Buffalo, Miami and Chicago are the "sexy" picks to make this week.

However, I'm being very cautious on this one....I believe at least one of the 3 will win, and possibly two.

New England has to lose sooner or later, and if it's this week, about half the contenstants will be eliminated.Miami's pretty much a lock, because they suck :)

By the way, it would be very, very impressive if anyone manages to win 2 out of 3 of the events going on between the NFL Game Predictions, Suicide Pool, and Rick's Football Pool.

I say we nominate that person as 2nd most knowledgable NFL fan at HFBoards (after the beloved JCD, of course.) ;)

Edit: I've decided to go with Chicago.

Give me the Bills.

I don't like taking a home team, but IMO it comes down to the Fins or the Bills this week (I've already taken da bears).

With the Fins playing in New England next wekk, I'll save them.

Hopping on the Brady/Bellichek express.

When you look ahead to next week, this becomes a tough week. There are a couple of gimmies, but you don't want to put yourself out on a limb for next week, with Chicago, KC, and Cincy on byes, and SF playing Arizona.

I'm surprised at how many folks are going with Buffalo. They're a tough, home team that is coming off a bye. I know they're 0-2, but they've only been outscored by 6 points this year.

Agreed,That 37-0 rout over the Pats last year is still in my mind

While I think New England will win, I don't think it will be the stone cold lock you need it to be in this pool. I'm not all that confident even though both teams are coming off a bye week. I'm debating it though.

The other one I am entertaining is taking the Bengals to lose in Pittburgh (my stone cold lock of the week is the eagles over da bears but I already used da bears)

Not to mention that in all honesty, both of the Patriot's wins so far this season weren't all that convincing.

Some team is going to get uppity on us and take down 5-6 people at once. Anyone want to make side-bets as to who pulls an upset?

I can tell who it won't be ... The dolphins, who may have the worst offense on NFL history.

Can the line be set high enough this week for Dolphins @ Patriots ???
