Actually, if that was the case he would side with Madden.

Holik is one of the players who has the LEAST to gain from this lockout. Think about it, he's got an absolutely long, gross contract. He is going to lose millions and millions.

Unlike other ultra-talented players, he has no hope (whatever the next CBA looks like) to EVER get close to those numbers again.

His time is now.

I'd love to watch you say that to holik's face and then laugh as he dismantled you without breaking a sweat, sending you home to your mommy. By all accounts, bobby holik is a character guy, a well respected player in the locker room who busts his tail for his team every night. and don't kid yourself, kiddo, he'd crush you.

I love how a couple of players disagreeing with each other in the media is "the NHLPA falling apart", but the fact that many of the owners hate each others guts and will actually blow millions of dollars to spite each other (Jacobs-Illitch and Karmanos-Illitch come to mind) isn't viewed as a big deal.

They also conveniently fail to mention that the owners have a major fine awaiting them if they come out and speak in the media.

$1 million fine will shut up even the grumpiest of owners, at least for a few months.

Is Holik overpaid? Hell yes. I would say that Rangers wasted less money (percentage wise) on Holik than that Habs did on Audette, McCay, Brisbois or Rivet. Just something to consider.

He'll never see $3m again after this contract let alone the $8.5m he's giving up by missing this season. You'd think he'd sign anything the NHL brought up provided it grandfathered his current deal in.

That wasn't for breaking ranks, it was for backing Bettman a little to vigourously. He basicly called the NHLPA and players greedy and other things which Bettman felt was not helping the general feeling between the two sides.
