He scored a goal in his first preseason game for San Antonio, but I think they are still evaluating him before making any final decisions on where he'll be staying.

Is this the same Lou Dickenson that is on the Reality TV show, "Making The Cut", and if it is does his tryout with San Antonio/Florida have any relevence to the show? Was/Is he one of the final six?

Yes it is the same player, but no it holds no relevence... It's the same thing with the Leafs right now... Matt Hubbauer is trying out for St.John's and he is on Making the Cut, but it's just an AHL tryout... According to Jack Birch from Making the Cut, in and interview last week on Mojo Radio, he said that the final 6 will get NHL tryouts, and that they will be for the 2005-2006 tryouts... Pending the lockout being resolved by then...

Another interesting note on the subject though is that he mentioned that the players at this point don't know who won... The final episode will be LIVE on television and the players will find out if they "Made the Cut" during that episode...

Hope this doesn't spoil anything from the show but in case anyone is interested...

Players from Making the Cut's final 68-man roster who are currently playing (on tryout contracts) with the San Antonio Rampage during the AHL preseason are:

LW Lou Dickenson, LW Shawn Mamane, LW Eric Sonneberg, C Mark Wires, D Jeff Brown, D James Demone, and D Dominic Periard.

Players who were also on Making the Cut's final 68-man roster and played (along with the guys listed above) with the Panthers' prospects in the Pierrefonds Quebec Rookie Tournament against the Leafs, Habs, and Sens' prospects were:

RW Anders Strome (almost made the San Antonio roster), LW Dominic Noel, G Trevor Cunning, D/RW Jonathan Robert, D Drew Kivell, D Wilder Weir, D Daniel Jacob, and former Panther draftee D Brad Woods.

Reason why there is an unusual amount of players from the show getting a chance with the Panthers is because Jack Birch is Director of hockey operations for the Panthers and Mike Keenan is Panther GM.

What's the deal with Strome anyway? Has he been reassigned to the ECHL?

I'm not sure where Strome is now, the last transaction involving him and San Antonio was him being released from his pro tryout contract.

Rampage called up Lou from the (ECHL) Texas Wildcatters and scored a top shelf goal tonight.
