One has to figure Vancouver may get the same treatment. Preserves the HNIC DH on Saturday nights. Unless CBC wants to try to go Canadian every night as much as it can.

honestly, this is the most uncertain i have ever been as far as predictions go that i can remember. almost all the series i could see going either way. anyone else have that sense?

Looking forward to game #3 and #4 in LA, take note that they cant play on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday for game #3, as the Clippers/Lakers play. So dont be surprised to see a back to back game 3 and 4 Wed/Thur. otherwise it will be Wed/Fri but that will push the series back quite a bit.

I think that is what you will see with regards to LA playing home on Sunday the 15th and Wed the 18th especially if they play Vancouver who will probably open up with Games 1 & 2 on Wed the 11th & Friday the 13th. I think HNIC will want to have a Canadian team on every night in the 1st round.

If they play the Blues apparently St. Louis is scheduled to begin at home on Thurs April 12 and Sat April 14. Would the NHL schedule the Blues\Kings to play on the Saturday afternoon and then play the next night (Sunday April 15) back in LA at say 7:30 PST, it's possible considering how the arena has been booked up during the week of the 16th. I can't see them playing once in LA on the Wed and waiting until Sat April 21 to play game 4 in LA, that's quite a large gap in the schedule and really slows the series down.

Well NBC will carry a noon game on Saturdays and a noon and 3pm game on Sundays. Really could just depend on who plays what days.

I really don't see how the nucks kings series doesn't have a back to back in it. Could also be a home a d away back to back.

I can't see VAN NOT playing game 2 at home on Saturdy, April 14th, for Hockey Night in Canada. Too perfect and I'll be at the game in newly bought Kings Attire.

Let's hope if the flyers and pens games are on NBC that we can get announcers that arent blowing the penguins all game

These things are still being determined, league-wide, but the Kings believe these could be the dates for the first four games against Vancouver…

Game 3 at Los Angeles: Sunday, April 15
Game 4 at Los Angeles: Wednesday, April 18

Why the back-to-back possibility? Because Game 2 is likely to be a Hockey Night in Canada game, and because there are massive scheduling conflicts with the NBA at Staples Center. There are NBA games at Staples Center on five consecutive days, so there would likely be a Clippers-Kings doubleheader on Sunday. Once the Hockey Night situation is finalized, the schedule will be released in the morning.

Because that's the nature of the beast. Too many series are in the Eastern Time Zone. People assume NYR/OTT ends quickly as well.

CBC will definitely be streaming all of their games on CBC.ca ... TSN doesn't mention it anywhere in their press release about the first round, so i'm going to guess no.

Brutal?....Elliot Freidman just tweeted that the Sens/Rangers series will be on all CBC channels except 1......why the hell would CBC take on the Caps/Bruins only to not air it?
Only CHEX is airing it....Telus in BC doesn't have it so despite having Center ICE , all the TSN and Sportsnet packages, I can't watch the Caps play in the 2012 playoffs...what a joke !

my guess is they want to, but likely don't have the digital rights to the games negotiated in their current contract. Would definitely expect that to change with their next one.

I know the Caps-Bs series is a big deal but I can't believe they gave us two afternoon NBC games and all the others on NBCSN.

That's a good question, I'm guessing that in the first round NBC will, for the most part, simply be picking up a team's broadcast anyway... there's no way they're sending a production crew to every single game in the first round.

Yeah, even if it's only 2 games you can't watch it's still pretty lame, Washington are the 2nd team I want to watch the most in these playoffs.

They did this with the Pens/Lightning last year i remember too. Shaw has CHEX but it was only in SD which is lame. Hockey needs to be watched in HD.

When I connect from home, I see CBC/TSN, when I use a US proxy, I see NBC, etc.

Maybe they are trying to maximize ad revenue by making sure your tune in to your local station only :^)

it goes by first round seeding, top seed that makes it out of the first round plays lowest seed to make it out, so in that situation NYR would play Pitts.

The Kings and St. Louis Blues will open their second-round playoff series on Saturday in St. Louis, followed by Game 2 on Monday. yeah the nhl historically never starts the conference finals until the 2nd round is done...

their no.1 priority is probably to get NBC their games for sat and sun afternoon so I would expect LA/PHX to open up on sunday.

If the east is wrapped up by wed or thurs night, look for the east final to start saturday. if either of the series makes it 7 games, that game will be played saturday, LA/PHX goes sunday and the east final would start Mon.

not a completely foolish question, basketball will open the second or third round while the round before it is still going on, all depends on arena availability and scheduling. hockey however makes a point to wait no matter what.

Urgh. 01:00AM starts.

NBC has NHL games tentative scheduled for Saturday afternoon, May 19 -
1:00 pm ET and Sunday afternoon, May 20 - 3:00 pm ET. Expect Game #3
of the Eastern Conference Finals to be played that Saturday afternoon - so
there will be a two day break between Games #2 and Games #3.

Expect Game #4 of the Western Conference Finals series to be played that
Sunday afternoon. Game #3 of the Western Conference Finals series will be
played either Thursday, May 17 or Friday, May 19. My guess Friday, May 19
would be the first choice - then the NHL would have two days off between
Games #2 and Games #3 of each series.

Of course this is all a guess as we will have to first see if the Staples Center
is free on those nights/afternoon - LA Lakers/LA Clippers playoff basketball
may say otherwise. Heck, Staples Center may be free from basketball after
Saturday as theres a chance both the Lakers and Clippers may not win their
first round series. Although odds are pretty good for both to advance - Clippers
are home tonight for Game #6 - up 3-2 and Lakers are home Saturday night for
Game #7.

I'd imagine if they follow that, they'd go Monday and Wednesday for games 3 and 4 and take another two day break before game 5 on Saturday the 9th. Makes sense since they'd like to avoid Friday nights since those are dead nights for ratings and it gives the teams two day travel back to the East coast.

My DirecTV on screen guide (which shows programming scheduled about two weeks out) concurs on these two dates and times... The only scenario I can see for moving up the Cup Finals earlier (if the league would even contemplate that notion) would be for the Rangers to win on Monday & Wedneday, and the Kings to win by Thursday...
