I'm a casual fan of the NBA, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me who are some of the college/HS players I should keep an eye on for the next NBA draft. Thanks. :)

Man, you're way behind the game. You gotta start tracking elementary school kids nowadays for the NBA draft.

Point guards very rarely get taken first overall. Iverson is the only one I know of off the top of my head. I know he was the first, fairly sure he was the last.

Hopefully Andray Blatche does not go pro and goes to 'Cuse for a year.

Paul is going to be a high pick. I followed him all last year during the tourney, and he was awesome.

Just to add to the list, Hakim Warrick, Charlie Villanueva, Daniel Ewing, Shelden Williams, Rashad McCants, Jawad Williams, B.J. Elder.

I'm hoping Dee Brown stays for his senior year... otherwise, he's probably a top 10 selection this year.

Iverson didn't play the point he just said he could.

A few guys to definitely keep an eye on in college play are Gay (UConn), McCants (UNC), Felton (UNC), Taft (Pitt), Simien (KU), Turiaf (Gonzaga), Paul (WFU) and Gilchrist (Maryland). There are a number of talented foreigners that look like they'll crack the top 10 this year for sure though - the high school crop is fairly weak this year IMO. I'm a huge Duke fan so I'm hoping Shelden Williams sticks around one more season and doesn't put his name into the draft. He's a great defensive player but he is still just an undersized PF with very mechanical post moves (mechanical post moves I'd love to see in Duke for one more season of course... ;) ).

I'm really hoping Daniel Ewing gets drafted but the market for undersized two-guards in the NBA just isn't that great and his handle isn't good enough to be an NBA point guard. :(

I'm not sure about that... he'll be in tough against Paul (if he leaves after this season), Gilchrist, Felton and Louis Williams. Of course, Illinois waxed Wake Forest tonight and Brown definitely outplayed Paul. I hope the number of decent guards flirting with the top ten will convince Dee Brown to go back for his final year... I love watching Senior point guards dominate over the hyped freshmen. :D

Yeah, no kidding. Appreciate the info guys. It could be a long winter, now I have something to follow. :)

He played the 1 in college, started there as a rookie, and is back there now. He was drafted as a point guard, first overall, and was the first player to accomplish that.

The Bobcats could end up with three:

- their own 1st rounder (Top 3)

- 1 pick is from Phoenix (originally Toronto's) for taking Jahidi White and his fatness off their hands. (it's lotto protected so we don't get it if Toronto misses the playoffs)

- 1 pick is from Cleveland in exchange for Aleksander Pavlovic (also lotto protected).

As a Bobcats fan, I hope that both the Cavs & the Raps or at least one of them reaches the playoffs.

I don't think the Cavs will have a problem. The Raptors, on the other hand....

That's what I think. The Cavs are 9-6 right now, while the Raps are 7-10. Ok Toronto's record ain't that bad, but I think the turmoil around Carter will distract them too much.

Ask Leafaholix.

I just googled his name and only found three words that perfectly describe him "Ivan the Terrible". He's supposed to be really terrible.

He actually used to be a potential top 10 pick until he played a few games with suitable American competition. Apparently 7'0 "point guards" aren't the greatest thing since sliced bread... :joker:
