Epsilon 12-18-2004, 09:12 PM anybody can tell Patrick and others on espn that if you want to be Barry Sanders you have to be like him every play not once every game
I was going to say the EXACT same thing.
ObeySteve 12-18-2004, 09:25 PM The ESPN announcers are honestly the worst announcing group I've ever heard, for any sport.
They say incorrect facts (everything from saying the wrong guy on the play to simple false facts), they exaggerate every play to make it seem absolutely amazing, and they really love to overrate and talk over and over about the same 2 or so guys in every single game.
Anthony* 12-18-2004, 09:37 PM i like the snf crew
ObeySteve 12-18-2004, 09:42 PM It's amazing how much the ESPN announcers are on Michael Vick's nuts. He quickly releases a ball that is 10 yards away from any reciever, and the announcers quickly say "he must have known that if he threw it to any of his recievers, it would have been picked off".
Vick and Roethlisberger get so much more credit than they ever deserve that it is amazing.
Vick 9-20 2 picks and now a fumble and Julius Peppers can move.
Fire Sather 12-18-2004, 10:24 PM come on Falcons...
Vick has proven to me he sucks, must it happen when I pick him in one on the most imporant weeks?
ObeySteve 12-18-2004, 10:30 PM In the last lap of the race that is the 2004 NFL season, Peppers is closing in on Reed and Farrior for serious consideration as Defensive Player of the Year.
Epsilon 12-18-2004, 10:38 PM The announcers are now making a big deal about a Vick incompletion, praising him for throwing it so hard it couldn't be picked, and making estimates as to the speed of it.
Epsilon 12-18-2004, 10:44 PM Vick just got annihilated by Wallace. What a hit.

chris_dub 12-19-2004, 12:24 AM Great win for the Falcons.
The game was hideous, but the only thing that matters is the W. Vick played awful, but got it done. And I just think everybody is hating on him because the announcers & people talk him up. He isn't there yet. That's obvious to anybody. He still needs to grow & learn, and for gods sake they need a #1 Receiver. But I don't like what the team is doing with Vick. They DO need to get him out of the pocket, because that is where he is the best.

When he is out of the pocket, he can throw some great passes. It's the west coast offence that hurts vick, and staying in the pocket.

Broadway Brett 12-19-2004, 10:53 AM As much as I hate Vick (I even hate the SNF anouncer, they might as well jack off in front of us when they watch Vick and Roethlisberger), I don't get why they say that people are saying Vick should change positions. I haven't heard anyone say that. He was drafted to be a QB, if you put him at RB, people will be at the line of scrimmage, and Vick is a great runner in the open field, and RB's need to get through holes, and stuff. And you don't know if he is able to catch the ball if you put him at WR. If he doesn't make it at QB, he won't be able to play in the NFL. It is nearly impossible to change positons in the NFL and become a star. He was drafted #1 overall because people thought he would be a great QB, and putting him at another position is just plain retarded.
DJ Spinoza 12-19-2004, 11:31 AM Today I am rooting for big games from...
McNabb
Andre Johnson
Lelie
Parker
Droughns
Jones (Julius)
Clark
Scobee
Seahawks D
Rodney Harrison
Except my opponents QB is Jake Plummer, who I'm really worried about because of Kansas City. Hopefully, Droughns is able to suck away his TDs, and if not, they do to Lelie so they are cancelled out.
I have a bad feeling that I'm going to lose. I need a huge game from McNabb.
Tuggy 12-19-2004, 11:36 AM hmmm just watchin countdown and they showed Cleveland. You can't even see the field with all the snow, Doug Flutie has been named the backup today. Should be interesting to see how the Chargers play in these conditions.
DJ Spinoza 12-19-2004, 11:44 AM Crap, that means a lot of Tomlinson today. Oh well, I'm just hoping for a deep pass to Parker. Brees is my other QB, but Dallas' secondary is worse than Cleveland's and I didn't even consider the weather. . . Good thing I didn't have Brees in or I'd be in trouble.
I'm assuming if I get any games, I'll get that Cleveland one. I'm hoping I get the Philly/Dallas game on FOX too.
MontrealCruiser_83* 12-19-2004, 11:59 AM Christ... Winners league playoffs and my opponent has some decent matchups. That Tomlinson news isn't good for me.

DJ Spinoza 12-19-2004, 12:17 PM McNabb INT. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Dr Love 12-19-2004, 12:17 PM Luke McCown just threw one of the worst INTs I have ever seen. He put it right into Donnie Edward's numbers. It was a beautiful pass to the end zone to the other team. And yes, the only reason I am watching this game is because of the snow.

Of course it does. The INT doesn't count.
DJ Spinoza 12-19-2004, 12:20 PM When it comes to fantasy football, I don't think very logically. I don't understand why a player rushes for some yards and the team takes a penalty, from what I understand the player still gets his yards.
McNabb almost threw another pick. Luckily Owens was there.
Nice punt by Philly there. I'm switching over the the Chargers game to root for Parker.
Edit: yeah, looking at that, it's a pretty dumb question.

DJ Spinoza 12-19-2004, 02:19 PM I actually would prefer Dallas to win this game.
But at this point I need a long drive with a lot of passes ending in a McNabb passing TD.
I also hate how Dallas has managed to waste away all the clock and not get Julius Jones any TDs. Sure, it's good coaching strategy to keep Philly off the field, but it's killing my chances of winning this week.

He's only 24 and has plenty of time to improve. Already one of the best hitters in the game.

He's been real good, but it's only been one year. Jury's still out on him IMO, but I do like him a lot. I never let one year make or break anyone, unless they're like 39 or 40. I'd take Dawkins over all of 'em, Michael Lewis is incredibly underrated.

He's a good TE, but I think his numbers are inflated because there isn't really anyone else to throw to. It's like the Chad Lewis explosion in McNabb's early years... Lewis was good, but he was putting Pro Bowl numbers up because McNabb had no one else to throw to. Same thing here, Keyshawn has been alright but the rest of the WRs stink, Witten, to his credit has been open all year, and Vinny goes to him. It also helps to have Mark Simoneau cover you twice a year!

Fish on The Sand 12-19-2004, 04:20 PM uh
i guess you missed it when his lineman had to carry him downfield because he couldnt walk
if he was so tough why didn't he gut it out and walk? I mean he obviously could walk if he could stand and take a snap and move around in the pocket. If anything he was just being lazy, the opposite of tough.

No it was actually pretty legit. He broke his fibula I believe, and he gutted it out in the final minutes and had his linemen carry him up to his position. He was able to walk and everything but he just couldn't run or plant too firmly, so when Marshall was in the hurry-up offense they had to carry him because it was quicker than him hobbling to the line after a long pass. And he wasnt able to move around in the pocket, they had to keep him in shotgun so he could just get the snap and throw. It was pretty gutsy.

It doesn't dimish that he is tough. It just has little bearing on his toughness in the NFL. I'm not even going to go into that he was playing against talent that is not of the caliber of NFL talent, and thus could have gotten buried had that happened in the NFL.
Burberry Manning 12-19-2004, 04:34 PM I actually somehow see a resemblance between Leftwich and Favre. Both have a howitzer for an arm and both are extremely tough and gutsy. We really haven't seen Byron display his toughness in the NFL but then again he really hasnt had too much of a chance to show it. Though I do think you are seeing a bit of his toughness in this game. I also see the gunslinger mentality with both of them, as with a great leadership quality. I dont know, I just see a bit of similarity between Favre and Leftwich. Just a feeling

If you're referring to me, which you probably are, I didn't ask for him to show some toughness. I simply said that in his short career to date he hasn't shown it (the implication that he hasn't been presented with an 'opportunity' to--if you want to call playing hurt an 'opportunity'.) I did not doubt that he is tough, I simply said he hasn't shown it yet. He is doing so today.

They won't be favored but they did:
Beat the Chiefs in K.C last year, in the cold
Even with Manning playing awful, still had the ball with a chance to win on the last possesion.
With poole out for the year and Law still questionable, the Pats could be vulnerable. The Steelers have proven in recent years that they're no lock to win home playoff games. If the Colts can score early, it could render that runnign game useless, forcing Big Ben to put the game on his shoulders.
The Colts will at minimum have a punchers chance in any game they play.

Chaos 12-20-2004, 09:47 AM I mean the Sean Taylor that plays on one of the best defense's in the NFL.
Ebenezer Ekuban played on the NFL's #1 ranked defense last year. So did Willie Blade. Doesn't mean a damn thing.

Neither one of them were reasons why the defense was #1. Sean Taylor IS a reason why the Redskins defense is so good.

It does when the players is among the team leaders in tackles, leading them in INTs and leading them in passes defended.
Fire Sather 12-20-2004, 02:49 PM Eagles press conference at 4 oclock.. can't be good.

Its Monday. Every coach has a press conference during the day so it might be Reid doing his usual interview.
Fire Sather 12-20-2004, 03:10 PM Owens fractured fibula.. outside shot at the SB. They also have to stick a screw in his ankle, which is the reason why hes not going to play. Also odd is that theres no ligerment damage.

Looking forward to watching the Eagles lose in the NFC Championship for the 4th year in a row now ;)

Even though I'm not much of an Eagles fan, I couldn't pass on this one...
HOW ABOUT THEM COWBOYS?

Don't bring up the past. Doesnt matter now. Thanks.
Chaos 12-20-2004, 03:22 PM Also, I guess this means Todd "I won't catch the ball if I think I'm gonna get hit" Pinkston will see more playing time. That guy has got to be hearing it from his teammates right now. 2 weeks in a row :lol .

Sure it matters, especially when I hear Eagles fans always talking about how they are just so much better. Win a Super Bowl or 5 and then I might pay attention to you. Originality. Thanks.
Hockeyfan02 12-20-2004, 03:24 PM 5 Super Bowl trophies. Thanks.
Thats the only thing us 49ers and Cowboys fans can cling to right now.

Sad but true. But at least you guys have the #1 pick to look forward to ;) .

You dont come back with the "Thanks" after I already mocked it. Your boys suck now and have no QB for next year... while the Eagles have a QB for 10 years.
