I really dont know about the fog devils. Personally, i don't like the name. However, i would say anything till I see the logo. It will have to be very impressive.

I have to agree that the name fog devils is pretty bad, the logo will probably be another of those childish logo who are taking over the world of hockey. The first time I heard about it, I immediately thought about how bad the Bakersfield Fog (WCHL) logo was, let's hope St. John's logo doesn't look like it.
For Réal Paiement, he's a great coach and has excellent hockey knowledge, he should do a great job with St. John's.

Fog Devils is not a hockey name for St. John’s (the city is not London with its infamous fog) Anything with Caps in it would have done just fine.
They did their research based on younger people liking the name. I think the season ticket holders should have voted on the name of the Q team as they are the base of any team. Not many of the St. John’s season ticket holders are under 30 and will not like the Fog Devils.

absolutely correct! all they are talking about is how the kids will like this name and how this is going to be a 'team for the kids', but the kids are not the ones who are going to buy season tickets.
i am wondering, will they honour the season ticket holders from the baby leafs? do we get first crack at our seats? or do they start from scratch and throw all the names into a hat again?

I'm not fond of the name right now either, but in the end once there is a team with real players on it, we'll go regardless. The jerseys will sell (provided they aren't too ridiculous) and people will get used to it. In three years nobody will think it strange at all. Sad but true.

I live in Halifax, and when you think about it, Mooseheads is a dumb name too. But people don't think about it anymore. Cape Breton Screaming Eagles?? Come on!
I imagine you local fans will just come to refer to the team as 'the Devils'.
Best of luck in the Q!

If the kids like it, it's a good name.
The over 30 base doesn't care about the team logo, team name or any other stupid marketing plan, they just want to go to a hockey game.
But, the young girls(12 to 15 year olds) will look for "cute" team colours.
The young boys(under 10) will want a cool name and cool logo.
And, this is where the money is in my opinion. Since these kids will bring in their parents, buy a lot of merchandise and food.
