Golden Gophers, WHA Jets (Bobby Hull fan), Red Wings in the early 70's and Oilers in the 80's when Gretzky made me a believer and now the Coyotes. Looking at all your ages explains why I get in so many debates with you optimistic types! lol
Lorenzo1000 09-21-2003, 02:07 PM Jets Fan since they joined the WHA. Saw all their Avco cup wins. Also remember seeing the 1972 Canada Russia series game 4 at the Winnipeg Arena. I was 11 at the time. As for age you do the math. I follow the Yotes thanks to NHL centre ice and watch at least 75 games a year. Been to Phoenix once in the first season to watch them play. Jim McKenzie had a hat trick and they beat the Kings 5-1. I hope to get there this year to see some games and the new rink.

As my dodgy use of the english language probably shows, I am french. I moved to England a few years ago and I live near London.
The reason why I am a Coyotes fan is not very fancy unfortunately: I am a huge sports fan but due to poor coverage in France I never realised how great was Ice Hockey. When I finally got it, I literraly plunged into the whole thing. This was in 1996.
The Jets had just becomed the Coyotes for a new start. So I decided to start my hockey addiction alongside the franchise.
Matzel 05-08-2004, 09:17 PM Hey just realised our board may be small but we have a pretty fine coverage from a lot of countries..
Germany - Howling Coyote and is it coyotechris?
I live in Eastern Canada, but I was born and raised in Germany. As a matter of fact I didn't come to Canada until I was 24 years old. I was posted to Shilo, Manitoba (about 200 km from Winnipeg) while serving in the German Armed Forces. Over a four year period we made many 400 km round trips to the 'Peg to see the Jets play at the Winnipeg Arena. Aah, the good ol' days: Essensa, Housley, Carlyle, Domi, King, Numminen, Olausson, Selanne, Steen, Tkachuk, Zhamnov, ... Dancin' Gabe :gman:
That's when I got the hockey bug. Coming from West Germany, I didn't know how exciting this game could be. Raised on soccer (Hamburger Sport Verein - the only remaining team that's only played in the Bundesliga - niemals 2. Liga!!!), I never thought much of 'ice hockey' as they call it. On the larger ice surface and a lot less physical, it seemed rather boring.
I went back to Germany to further my education when the Jets left for the desert. I adopted a 'jets4ever' attitude and stayed with the franchise in spirit. In 1999 I moved back to Canada. Here on the East coast I can watch all the Sens games I never wanted to endure. In order to follow the Dogs, I have to shell out for the center ice pack.
Dancin' Gabe rules!
PS: LT - I hear that Villeneuve might get a ride with Williams-BMW next season. Who knows, he might be back... BTW, BAR is doing great this year - with Sato and Button for a combined fraction of what the team paid JV last seasaon...
Thoughts? :dunno:

Hockey fan: Always wanted to get into it, but growing up in Phoenix, I didn't get much exposure. (I know we had the Roadrunners, but they got little exposure). Anyway, I learned most of the rules of hockey from a video game just before the Yotes moved from Winnepeg. Flipping through the channels one day, I saw a game on and watched the Yotes come from a 2 goal deficit to win the game. I was hooked. I've been a die hard fan ever since. I spend lots of time spreading the hockey gospel, trying to get as many people as possible into the sport.
Other sports: I wasn't aware that there were other sports :dunno:

Interesting story on how I became a fan of hockey:
When I was about 8 years old, I found four hockey cards on my dresser. Didn't know what they were or how they got there, but they looked cool. I soon found out more about hockey through reading magazines and newspapers, and my dad started taking me to games. Been hooked ever since.
Funny thing is, I still remember those four hockey cards. Brett Hull (USA), Paul Coffey (Canada), Zigmund Palffy (Slovakia), Teemu Selanne (Finland). 91-92 Upper deck. I still have them too :)
