Just recently, I've started having Media Player problems. Actually, its just one recurring problem.

Every time I try and stream video off the internet, I get an error message:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").

Fine, I thought. I'll just go and see if the protocol settings are all checked to allow streaming data, but the settings are fine.

Anybody know what could be wrong?

other than recommending taking a look at VLC media player (open-source), I have little help for you.

Are you sure you have the right codecs to play the format the video was compressed in?

What was the extension of the video you were trying to play?

Its not just a one off, its happened to every streaming video. It was a video off TSN.

I was able to view them last week, but not now.
