Anyone heard if Clouts is going to wear his new Beezer type mask this year? I saw pictures at the end of last season, and thought he was going to get used to it over the summer.

Did he wear it in Vernon at camp?

From what I saw, he was sticking with the ol' egg shell cage at camp, and he was wearing it during last nights pre-season game.

When i met him at 8 rinks, someone asked him about it, dont shoot me these aren't exact quotes, but it was something like this:

"nah, they just wanted me to try it, we are sticking with the old one"

something along those lines.

Why does he where such a lame mask?
Because he's lame, of course!

:p

Even I have a more expensive/better looking helmet than him.

Oh well, whatever works.

He doesn't like the modern goalie mask because he says he has a hard time seeing the puck when he wears one. Once you get comfortable with a piece of equipment it can be pretty hard to change it.

Same thing probably goes with Cloutier.

Although painting a design on his plain helmet would definitely spruce it up. Hockey players are so superstitious though; they don't like to change just for the sake of changing it seems.

But Clouts coul use a change when it comes to the playoffs.

Yep. It worked for Hasek.

The club was worried about the lack of protection the helmet/cage provide. Cloutier's comfort in goal is what's important.

Now if he could just play like Hasek for one playoff season. Just one .... is that to much to ask ..... :D

I saw Cloutier in the bar the other day in my hometown Vernon along with Bertuzzi, Naslund, Morrison, Ohlund, and Allen. Bertuzzi even threatened to punch my 150 pound lights out, as my drunken ass was spouting Oiler jibberish to them. Ahhh, good times.

Haha, good stuff. I would've paid to see Bertuzzi go through with that.

Only if he'd punched Naslund or something. :D

If Cloutier's more comfortable with his old mask, let him use it. Look at Arturs Irbe--the most beat up old pads and mask in the league, but he won't change them because he's used to them. Cloutier's gotten comfortable with a piece of equipment, it can be difficult to change that.

I don't know if Irbe's the best example to use considering his position right now but I know what you mean. Minor leagues and all :teach: If Cloutier is going to switch over there's going to be a period where he'd have to adjust to it. No way he does that before the stretch drive or before the playoffs so now would be the best time if he would. I agree with you though. If he's comfortable with it, let him use it.

Irbe did take his team to the finals though...

I have nothing against the design of the mask, but it just looks so boring. One was posted a few months back where it was the same egg-shell mask, just with a Canucks logo and some totem poles etc painted on it. I thought that looked pretty good. Why doesn't he paint 'er up? :dunno:

cuz that style mask painted up looks like crrrrrrrrrrrap.....

I think it looks good as is....leave it as such :p

I agree with Chris. Cloutier/Hasek style masks that are painted look fugly.

Two other good examples of getting used to equipment are Messier and Gretzky's old helmets. They stopped making both of them, but they both kept them because they were used to them. I'm pretty sure that Mess even has leather straps still on his helmet!

Why does he where such a lame mask?

Because being fashionable isn't high on his list of priorities? That fool! Who cares what he wears on his mellon, so long as he keeps the biscuit out of the basket....

I kno, it is really lame. He looks like a weirdo in the Cage Mask. He will probably look cooler if he wears a Mask Helmet.
