Last year's QMJHL champion faces off against the team with the second-best record from last season. Many of the protagonists from last year's squads are gone, but both teams still have the ability to make some noise. With no Fleury in the picture, this series becomes a battle of Philadelphia goaltending prospects.

Schedule:
Game 1: 03/25: @Gat
Game 2: 03/26: @Gat
Game 3: 03/29: @CB
Game 4: 03/30: @CB
*Game 5: 04/01: @Gat
*Game 6: 04/03: @CB
*Game 7: 04/05: @Gat

Head to Head:
10/17/04: Cape Breton 3, Gatineau 2
01/04/05: Gatineau 3, Cape Breton 2
02/09/05: Cape Breton 1, Gatineau 2
Season Series: 2-1-0, Gat

Notes:
- Cape Breton's top forward Stephen Dixon is out for the series, thus the Eagles will have to rely heavily on Martin Houle, who finally gets his chance to lead the Eagles in the playoffs.
- Gatineau's young, relatively inexperienced defense will have to step it up to help David Tremblay, who has had his struggles this season.

Houle was sick, he had intestinal flu...thats why he was the backup

Gatineau's now up 2-0. Went to this game, very chippy although not quite as blatantly dirty as the first one. As much as Tremblay has struggled this year, he was absolutely amazing at times, especially late (despite the goal to cut it to 3-2). That being said, Gatineau controlled the first and third periods for the most part. A healthy Dixon would have really helped. As of now, the Olympiques are clearly just more talented, especially up front, and if Tremblay plays the way he did tonight, CB is probably done in five or at most six.

Going tonight and will give you a report. Without Dixon, eagles are in tough but they have finished the season strong and should win 2 at home. Stay tuned!

If Tremblay plays as well as he has in the first 2 games, it takes out the Houle factor and the 'Piques are in good shape. Although they lost their entire first line along with most of their D-men from last year, they have alot of playoff experience. Guys like Labrecque, Labelle, Fugere and Roberts have all been there for the past 2 appearances at the mem cup.. and the young d-men were playing well at the end of the year.

Hopefully the Piques can take 1 of 2 (at least) in CB and come back to Gatineau with a 3-1 lead in the series.

Right now it's 1-1 after 1.

3-0 in the series for Gatineau after an overtime winner by David Krejci.

Gat was clearly outplayed last night but played a playoff style game using lots of grit and getting key goaltending from Tremblay. The score could have been easily 6-2 but Tremblay played great. Eagles look deflated and stunned after the loss and will likely lose in 5 but if Gat plays same way tonight could be done in 4. Too bad, eagles lost dixon and took the heart and soul out of the team. Anyway always next year.... James Sheppard is the real deal.

There's your key to the series right there.

The Eagles have apparently played the Piques close in all three games, and the presence of Dixon (who I'm sorry to say is their only real legitimate offensive weapon -- Sheppard will be next year) could very well have shifted this series in the other direction.

C'est la vie. Wouldn't count the Eagles out entirely yet, but it looks very bleak at this point.

I must say, I'm completely amazed at Tremblay's performance thus far. He was their only flaw last year, was brutal all season, and now he's stealing the series.

eagles finally solved Tremblay but Houle look shaky as well. Piques clearly outplayed again tonight but tremblay let in 3 easy goals. Tied after two and eagles busted them in the 3rd. Got to say eagles are still in the series but winning two in Gatineau will be an extreme task to say. Spoke to Dixon earlier and he is back in the 3rd round.... to bad we won't be there. Apparently Asselin, Dixon and Houle will be back next year as overagers which leaves some fine overagers available, Fontaine (tower of strength) Lambert who is playing well this season, Beland (loads of talent but does not seem to breakout the way he should but did score two goals tonight), Victor who is a solid 4th defenseman. Anyway anyone going to the game on Friday, is it elevised??

Eagles drove to HFX yesterday, and had their flight to QUE an hourl later.. They got a good rest last night and will be ready to steal this series. It should or could be 3-1 for CB but regardless they still need to win one in Gat. Tremlay has been exposed and the eagles will score atleast 4 goals tonight. If Gat gets 5 they win.....

Excellent game tonight. Tremblay was a huge factor in the series. Gatineau had more depth on offense and despite a yound inexperienced defence manage to win. Cape Breton did not have much firepower on offense. Gatineau will have a hard time to win the next round unless they don't have to play Rimouski or Halifax. But they could beat Rouyn-Noranda or other lower place teams.
