How Does The Future Look For Him With The Leafs? White while gifted offensively will always have an uphill struggle to become and regular NHL player due to him being Vertically Challenged... The NHL has a real bias for Dman under 6 feet and unless the new CBA allows for extra players dressed, which might allow a team to dress a Powerplay Specialist ...I think White's chances are not good, and even more so on a leafs team that has many prospects a head of him on the depth chart.. sluggo* 09-23-2003, 09:22 AM I've always seen that White will make the NHL as a PP and offensive D-man specialist. Think Delmore. p.l.f. 09-23-2003, 05:55 PM think phil housley. no wait..... :joker: Icewind Dale 09-23-2003, 06:12 PM How Did White Look In Camp. How Does The Future Look For Him With The Leafs? As the Messenger said, he's a little too vertically challenged. However, his lack of size is not the only issue working against him. From what I've seen he tends to forget his defensive assignments, but that can always be taught. Although, someone his size will have a lot of trouble regardless of what he learns. I wouldn't mind seeing him converted to forward, actually. It's worked for quite a few players over the years, so who knows. If not, I see him being a possible throw in for a trade or maybe even a career minor-leaguer. Leaf Army 09-23-2003, 06:13 PM I think a better player to compare White to would be Dan Boyle in Tampa. Similar size and offensive skills. sluggo* 09-23-2003, 06:22 PM I;d wait to see how he plays in St.Johns first. Hes very gifted offensivly. You can always pair himw tiha strong defensive player and limit his 5-on-5 time, use him a PP specialist at the NHL level. To early to say he WILL make the NHL, but to early to write him off either. If he can put up 50 pts a season that would make up for his lack of size. | ||
