Top 50 fantasy defenseman...
Some Hilites:
#7 Chris Pronger (not the offensive player he used to be)
#8 Andy Delmore
#13 Jovo (should be higher)
#30 Scott Nediermeyer (one of the best D-men in the game, and ranked this low?)
#36 Jason York (top 50? C'mon)
#46 Jeff Jillson (24 career points, and in the top 50?)

Brent Sopel, Canucks: He will be a great buy on Draft Day. He is an underrated player who sometimes goes unnoticed because of where he plays
this bugs me a lot.. what does it mean by "where he plays".. he sound slike Vancouver is a small hockey town or something...
and Ohlund only 30ish..?? I'd say he is one defenseman that any team would love to have on their top pairing except maybe a handful of power house teams.

it's an article for fantasy teams. they are basing it on expected points.

Andy Delmore was GREAT for the pool last year. like 12 PP goals or something.

Exactly...not to mention PIMs and +/- etc. Which the author makes perfectly clear IMO. These aren't picks of who you think are the best D-men in the league but rather who will help out your fantasy pool.
I can't really argue with his picks. For people who count PP goals (my pool does) Delmore and Boyle could be very valuable commodities for example and are rated quite high.

Everybody's missed the worst one - Brian Leetch at #6. And the writer mentions that he made that choice after Leetch went on the injured list indefinitely. Wow.

they also rated Sopel in top 50 now i wouldnt say that. Thats just overrating him alittle bit especially if they arent putting Jovanovski in.

I know its a fantasy hockey article, but are you telling me you'd draft Delmore ahead of Jovo, Morris, Brewer, Redden or Ozolinsh?

he was 26th in defensemen scoring and still improving. like i said this is an article for fantasy leagues, in which Sopel should deffinately be in the top 50.
and Jovanovski was 13th. he should be higher because if he played all 82 games he would have been 4th in defensemen scoring, along with a decent +/- and lots of PIMS.

It probably means he gets over-shadowed by Jovo/Ohlund

I know its a fantasy hockey article, but are you telling me you'd draft Delmore ahead of Jovo, Morris, Brewer, Redden or Ozolinsh?
Depends on the scoring system. In my league, with goals counting for more than assists, he's right near the top behind Gonchar, Lidstrom etc.
The key to all leagues/pools, fully understand the scoring system. I was in one league, where the scoring system was totally hooped. Nobody realised it at the time, until I started making high draft picks of thugs like Brashear, Laraque, Oliwa etc. 200+ pims were worth way more than 70 point guys.
As for "where he plays", you have to accept that Vancouver gets *zero* press coverage in the US. We're never on ESPN. They'll pick a Carolina/Nashville game to show over a Vancouver/Los Angeles tilt every time.
