OHL playoff format

Quick question from a W fan looking in on the O playoffs.

Why were three of the 4 conference semi-final series and at least half of the quarterfinal series not in the standard 2-2-1-1-1 format? Building conflicts? Or is this how a series usually is played and the 4th one in the semis and the others in the quarters the odd ones out?

It depends on the distance between the cities of the teams involved. If a team has to travel more than 400 km (one way) it is played under the 2-2-1-1-1 format, if it's under it usually is played in the 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 format. Hope that explains it.
