Who should I be watching at the Central Scouting Challenge this weekend? Is this for players to battle to the top of the draft list, or more for players that have not been seen sufficiently to have a final look see?

Watch everyone :)

I was at the one last year and it was a blast. Only problem was trying to watch 40 different players at once lol

As this is for the top 120 Prospects for the upcoming Q draft, I would guess that it is a final look or probably for some of the Q GMs to have a look at players that their scouts have already noticed.

Also, as I understand, not only are they looked at for their performance on the ice but how they carry themselves off the ice as well.

Sounds like it will be a hoot! Any good steak houses in Anjou?

its also usually a goonshow too cause the young players want to prove that they are not afraid to go at it....like last year Guillaume Durand who sneaked into the first round after getting 36pim in only 2 games. :shakehead

It was not a goonshow at all! There was none of the slashing, spearing, checking from behind, and general weak physical play that I see routinely in New England. There was a lot of clean checking, like I expected. There was only one fight that I saw all weekend, and the refs quickly seperated the two and ejected them (I suspect the 2 players might have staged it, since it happened at the end of the 2nd game).

Did any players/goalies rise above? Did any fall below the expectations of those watching?

I have heard from someone who was there that some of the goalies that were expected to do well actually didn't play as well as expected.

How come there is no analysis of the QMJHL Central Scouting Challenge anywhere on the web. I am surprised that one of the bigger events in eastern Canada does not get some analysis on a web site, or at least some comment on how the top prospects did!

Looking at last year, it took a couple of weeks for the stats to be put on the website.

Yah we posted some clips. I had a couple guys at the CSR...we have just been busy finishing up the April Draft edition which will be released on APRIL 30th with over 600 players listed, as well as more indepth rankings.

Also in the next week or so there will be many more videos posted.
