The QMJHL is a farce...

Cormier gets a game for crashing the net in the first series, Cabana gets two games for a one handed slash, Cormier gets another three games for punching a guy and now Milot gets two games for a two handed baseball swing.

The Mooseheads now lead the playoffs 3 suspensions to 2.

Player reputation and previous infractions often play a role in suspensions. These suspensions are hardly surprising.

The length is about what I expected for someone who hasn't been much of a dirty player through his career.

The delay doesn't surprise me. Fillion doesn't work weekends. Not even in the playoffs. ;)

Milot is a bigger loss to their defensive unit than Cormier is to Halifax's offensive unit.

For the record, I'm not complaining about the suspensions or their length. It isn't surprising. There is a bit of a bias agaist maritime teams and there always will be. That's something everybody is over.

The problem is the league inventing some new rule that allows them to suspend a player without actually reviewing the play...and in the same game, they review a play that could have really hurt another team.

Scenario...

Guy shoots another guy in the face and the judge sentences him to life. Somebody else shoots another guy in the face and gets a trial. Yeah.

since everyone seems to be in the mood, how bout that officiating?

typical Q penalty summary:

1st period
visitors - 2min tripping
visitors - 2min slashing
visitors - 4min high sticking
visitors - 2 min coughing
visitors - 2 min for visiting

home team leads 3-0 after first period

2nd period
home - 2min hooking
home - 2min skating
home - 2min holding
home - 4min scoring
home - 2min elbowing

score 4-4 after 40 mins

3rd period

oh dear my whistle seems to have broken and look, that guy just sliced that guys throat with his stick. oh well, at least i won't be the deciding factor.... i've done my job

my point - call every outrageous thing you can find for two periods, even up the penalties, and sit back with a beer and watch em goon it up for the third. managing the game rather than calling it as is. :shakehead

hockey needs to get away from this desperately, starting with the NHL.

CORMIER, CORMIER, CORMIER!!!!

yeah, that was a bit weird, but I guess its to be expected. Good game otherwise though, and as of tonight we're up 3 games to 0. Can't wait to play Sidney Crosby, hopefully I'll get to see all the games at the metro center :)
