How has he looked so far? When Hulse first got to the Predators he played very aggressive and hit everything, then he broke his hand, and started to play soft, that continued for the most part, then the stupid penalties started and fans and management gave up on him. Just wonder if maybe a change of team helped him?
Hes been solid, but nothing special.
Everything a #6-7 should dream of being.

That's a little too much money for a 6 or 7 isn't it?

Maybe so. But that is where he is on the depth chart.

What surprises me is that Barnett was so hard up for Hulse that he had to win the bidding battle against LA for him. They are very high on him, but if you look at it, they've been throwing that kind of money at Suchy too, which is a similar player in the depth chart.
Makes no sense to me.
When your depth chart based on salary is:
Simpson-Ference
Suchy-Hulse
Mara-Tanabe-Vaananen
I'm just glad we have a good deal on some of those contracts right now.
I think Hulse, Simpson and Suchy are all #5-#7 defensemen who will all rotate as the final defensive pairing and being the healthy scratch. Of the three Simpson makes the most and is signed for the shortest time. Hulse has the middle contract in terms of money and length. While suchy is signed the longest and for the cheapest amount.
If Hulse and Simpson continue, and Suchy bounces back
We will have a big logjam at defense. We do right now, but I think before the season starts the prospects will not grab a spot.
