I would buy Laura Stamm's book on "Power Skating". Can get enough proper skating technique early enough. Speed kills... :)
Vern Stenlund also has a bunch of books with drills for puck control, shooting, etc

i concur.
stamm's book is about the best out there.
sign him up for any kind of edge work classes, and get him into any power skating clinics. i never even knew anything about edges until i was about 14 years old. that is stuff kids should be taught from day one.
along with stamms book, robby glantz has alot of great tips at his websites and he has alot of camps in the north east. he is a very good coach and his camps are primarily for skating with power and less effort.
