enough of the Comrie crap, now onto really "important" topics...

what is your pick for the Oilers new pregame song?

I liked the Vines song they played last year and that animated intro was cool but got old really fast (especially with the outdated Motley Crue theme song)

Here's my pick:

Gasoline by Audioslave

any suggestions?

Like the smilie. :handclap:

Have to say no to the song though...starts off a bit too slow for me.

I'd go with Ride the Lightning myself...starts intense, never lets up.

Gasoline by Audioslave

no
need something to get the crowd really into it - not get them tappin their toes on the floor and heads bobbing back and forth - needs to be MUCH quicker!
Party Hard would be ok, but still needs to be... I dunno.... catchier.... Party Hard sounds corny doesn't it?
for whom the bell tolls is also to slow....
Danko just is annoying IMO, lol

I'm trying to think of something... will post when I do...
Must say, lasts years song was great - kick start the heart was perfect
the video was cool the first time - so-so the second time, and painful everytime after that.....

Out of morbid curiousity, I looked up the lyrics for this 'song' on metrolyrics.com...

Oh dear.

I don't think we'll be seeing Faith Hill doing a cover of this ballad anytime soon.

I'll go with "Faint" by Linkin Park. Although "For Whom The Bell Tolls" would be my choice.
PS: I called "Get Free" last year, so I'm like 1-4 since I boughts seasons.

dunno about Faint - I mean remember when your picking songs it has to be something that you can put hockey clips with good - and it needs a chorus that can be repeated again and again.

How can people think for whom the bell tolls would work? WAY WAY WAY to slow

Not the video part, the entrance.

They just used a Van Halen song a few years back, "right now".

They should go with nine inch nails, "closer". Just send out BG to glare menacingly at the other team :yo:

Again way too slow. I really think something high energy would help. And I am not thinking NIN "Big Man with a Gun" or "March of the Pigs" would be very accepted by some of the older fans, lol. Although both are great songs.

I really thought some Andrew WK would be perfect. If not maybe something So-Cal punk-like? Maybe a nice Offspring or Rancid or Bad Religion song.. I can't think of one off the top of my head that would be very fitting though... Any suggestions? Bad Religion tends to be fairly political so maybe they aren't the best. Although they do love hockey and I am sure would be more then willing to lend a song as an intro to an NHL team. Maybe they wouldn't be bad, something like "I Want to Conquer the World"?

I really would like to stay away from 80's hair bands as it really gets corny after you hear it once...

No way - keep your hands of Rammstein. If you would understand the message of those songs really nobody would repeat the refrain - bad bad music, worst lyrics.

Just wanted to express my horror at the Cannibal Corpse song that was suggested. I'm a young guy, consider myself pretty hip, but I can't for the life of me see any value or artistic need for a song like that. Those lyrics are appalling. And this is coming from a guy who liked Marilyn Manson, thought he provided some interesting social commentary. I'd love to hear some Bruce Springsteen at the start of the night, but recognize that its probably not hard enough.

Hell's Bells, or one long loop of the opening riff from Up around the Bend from CCR would be good. Hmmm, How about Smoke on the Water?

I second the 'Seek and Destroy' idea! I think that would be a killer start to a game

also a few other songs that might work:
"Bleed for me" by Black Label Society
or
"Time to go" by the Dropkick Murphys
