Four ex-Canucks, Kariya, Holden, Druken, Barrett, again didn't make it with their parent NHL team. Glad we got rid of all of them.

Holden was pretty good in camp. I wouldnt be surprised if he's claimed at the waiver draft and ends up a regular some where down the road. Druken is apparantly recovering from shoulder surgery (something that wasnt really disclosed). I havent heard anything good/bad about Barrett either way.

Regardless, there was a slim chance any of them had a chance to make it with the Leafs -> only b/c of the #'s game. Our top 12 forwards are pretty much etched in stone , and would have to clear waivers to be sent down..

Holden as been a "regular wannabe" for over 6 seasons. This kid is a full-blown AHL player - nothing more. It's not like Toronto is the first team he has failed to make. Carolina, Toronto and Vancouver had a look at him and decided that he was minor pro material and that's it.

If Paul Healey can make the NHL...Josh Holden can. Not saying he will make an impact, but as a 4th liner, I have no problem with him. Hes a well rounded player.

Jim Dowd and Wes Walz as two examples.

I am not saying Holden would be a permanent NHL player, but sometime it takes awhile for player to learn how to play in the NHL.

and Holden did have a serious wrist injury that nearly ended his career and stunted his development a little..

I think the Olli Jokinen who was a high pick and tolled with the Kings, Isles and Florida before his career took off at the age of 24..

Some players develop slower..

Nucks have a player like Naslund, because he took a while to get accustomed to the NHL..

Brad Leeb is still with the Leafs, whereas Mojzis isn't with the Canucks. :D
