Does anyone have any opinions on either of these NBA titles? ESPN is only 20 bucks which is a bonus, but would EA's be worth the extra 20? :dunno:

ESPN.

I have both... I hate Live's gameplay.

If you want realistic gameplay, go with ESPN.

If you want extras (i.e. Slam Dunk Contest) and more options in franchise, go with EA.

I have NBA Live.. The gameplay is SOMEWHAT realistic.. Not really though. Good Franchise mode. Pain in the neck when you play on higher levels.. The CPU can't miss.

If you have a PC that can run it, go with Live on the PC. You can download roster updates from various fan sites, and the graphics are much much better.

To say the graphics for the PS2 version are poor would be an understatement.

For the difference in price ESPN is killing EA in every sport but hockey lately. Their football was better than Madden by far.

That's only in personal preference.

The way ESPN botched the NFL franchise mode made it completely unplayable.

How do you figure, I've never found a single problem with the franchise mode. They just didn't dumb it down like EA does for kids.

The computer never drafts QBs or HBs in the first round!!

Apparently they also "killed" them in hockey, better reviews and more games sold.

Both suck, both need sliders, only difference is that the the EA game has the dunk contest. :shakehead

Yeah, i've never figured out how to do one.

I have ESPN NBA2k5 and I think it's a great game, but I haven't played NBA Live other than the Slam-Dunk competition.

and this somehow makes the game "unplayable"?

For me, yes. There is no strategy to the draft if you always have the best QB's and HB's slide to you in the draft.

Might as well just create a team of 99 OVR players, because to me its no different. If the other teams don't behave realistically, its not worth playing.
