rangers 09-28-2003, 07:22 AM The hockey coverage here in Norway is pretty bad, but yesterday VG, our biggest newspaper, had a story on Anders Myrvold. According to them, Myrvold is challenging for a place on the opening night roster of the Red Wings. It also say that Anders has made a good impression so far and that he has been a regular in your preseason games. It also claims he was sharp in both games against the Capitals.
Have anyone seen anything of him? Can he end up on your opening night roster?
Thanks!

If he lands a spot on an opneing night roster, it will be with Grand Rapids, their minor team.
he's been playing decent from what i've read.
Seiza 09-28-2003, 10:36 AM I still can't believe that a player like Myrvold is even considered. He must really have developed since I last saw him play..

Hah! Who wouldn`t want a Stanley Cup winner on their team??
Anders Eriksson also won the Cup.. and look at him... how good is he?

Baby leafs...
Golden Foppa 09-29-2003, 05:59 PM I can't believe Myrvold is still in the league. Exactly who did he win a cup with? He was not on the Avs' roster when they won in '96 and he was traded with Landon Wilson to Boston either in '96 or '97, after that I don't know what happened to him.

he went back to europe.
Its not like this guy is going to make the wings. They are looking for the guy to play in the AHL. Thats it.
Myrvold sent to the minors... finally.
If he plays a game with the Red Wings this season I would seriously doubt the quality of the NHL.
Ratty 10-02-2003, 03:35 PM Anders Eriksson also won the Cup.. and look at him... how good is he?But Eriksson is not Norwegian. It appears the poster wanted information on his fellow countryman.

rangers 10-04-2003, 12:14 PM Well, just heard Myvold was made captain of the Grand Rapids. Let`s hope he gets some call-ups durnig the season!

Even though this was posted months ago, old time Griffin Travis Richards has been captain. Though he is (was) one of the leaders on the team by helping out both Jiri Hudler and Niklas Kronwall make adjustments to the North American way of life.
You should check out www.grgriffins.com They mention Anders in a few of the Griffiti articles. I'm sure the fans from Norway would enjoy that :D

How many games do guys think Anders will get before he`s sent down? Until Chelios/Schneider returns?

I read on the Red Wings Central board (from Lindy, who is a good source with this stuff, she even had an article in her post...) that he may be called up to play tonight if Chelios decides he can't go, which would probably put Chelios on the IR to make room for Myrvold. We shall see...
Motown Beatdown 02-29-2004, 06:53 PM He's playing in tonights game paired with Rivers. He hasn't played much but threw a nice check.
TheBrew 02-29-2004, 07:21 PM He got an assist on the second Detroit Goal :handclap:

From Norway with love! :D
Epsilon 02-29-2004, 07:42 PM He's looked solid in his own end and has done a nice job jumping into the offensive zone to generate scoring chances. He could be a keeper.

Well, he ain`t exactly young and I`m sure you`ve got 6-7 better Defensemen than Anders, but I`m happy for him. Norwegian Radio had an interview with him the other day before his debut in Calgary and wow...was he exited!? Sounded like a little child before Christmas. :D In a good way! He`s just glad he got another chance in NA.
We need a Norwegian in the NHL. That way the Swedes can`t make fun of us! :D

Myrvold had another solid game IMO, and as you know already he picked up an assist on the Yzerman goal. He is working is butt off and hopefully for his sake he can prove to management he can hang with the big boys.
Whatever happened to Shampoo Knutsen? :p
Vyacheslav 02-29-2004, 10:00 PM Shampoo's in Europe now.
garry1221 03-01-2004, 01:13 AM was interested to see what he'd look like out there (missed the last game), like what i see so far, plays a fairly simple game, but isn't afraid to take the body looked good out there, and yes they put cheli on IR and it's being said that when chelly and/or woolley are ready to return devs will be placed on waivers to make room, maybe with the -400k left someone will take him well a guy can dream can't he :dunno:

Oh I wouldn't be too sure of that ;)
Great that Myrvold got to play though, he's been fighting for it a long time.
rangers 03-01-2004, 09:39 AM Whatever happened to Shampoo Knutsen? :p
Shampo`s currently playing in Sweden for Djurgården IF. He`ll probably never play in the NHL again
doublejack 03-01-2004, 11:36 AM I have been really impressed with the way Myrvold is playing. He looks comfortable out there and has been physical. Since Hatcher has been out the only guy throwing his weight around is Fischer so it's nice to see.
The Wings are deeper than most teams on defense so Myrvold's stay will be short. For example Woolley didn't make the team at the start of the season, and he'd be a top 4 guy just about anywhere else. But honestly from what I've seen, even if it's only been 2 games, Anders could make the roster on several NHL teams. It will be interesting to see if someone gives him a look next year.
