Malakian#13 09-29-2003, 11:01 AM ok, so it will never happen .... im bored as ****!
To Los Angeles: Jaroslav Spacek
To Columbus: Tim Gleason , Petr Kanko
I'm not positive on how much of a return they would want for Spacek
maybe throw in a 3rd round pick if they want more or change Kanko to someone like Steckel or Lappy if it wouldn't take that much to get him.
Trading Lappy would free a space for brown with cammy out.:)

Lets be happy you are not running the Kings, although as a Duck fan I would welcome the Kings making this deal.
However the potential of Gleason and Kanko greatly outweigh what Spacek currently brings to the table.
If you are offering up that package for a d-man I bet you could acquire a much better player.

I don't follow the Blue Jackets..... I know Spacek put up about 45 points last year and is only 29 so I didn't want to offend any of Columbus' fams.
edit: fans
AvsGuy 09-29-2003, 11:34 AM the Kings overpay a bit here, but as a deadline deal, this would go down: Spacek is one of the most underrated players out there, and his offense hasn't yet maxed out.
willie 09-29-2003, 11:46 AM Certainly not bad value wise.
Problem is, we really don't need a Jaroslav Spacek type of defenseman.
We need another Norstrom/Miller-esque. defenseman. A tough, reliable defenseman who can play on the PK and punish in front of the net.

you have 2, and you need another one? other than Modry, you don't really have a lot of defensemen like Spacek, do you? correct me if i'm wrong, and BTW, i wouldn't put Visnovsky at the same level as Spacek...

Visnovsky may not be at the same "level" as Spacek (though he is considerably better than Modry) but he is hardly a 'tough' defenseman.
LA's defense core looks as follows:
1)Miller
2)Norstrom
3)Visnovsky
4)Corvo
5)Modry
6)Undecided
7)Undecided
---------------
Visnovsky and Modry are soft. Corvo isn't soft but is not a major physical presence. All 3 are capable offensively. Corvo has the big shot from the point, Modry is a solid playmaker and Visnovsky is great at the transition game. All in all, they make a capable offensive trio from the blueline.
The big concern is toughness. Miller, Norstrom and ?. If Aaron (who has a history of injury woes) and/or Matty goes down, this team is screwed. Who plays PK? Who else is physical? Clear the front of the net? etc.
In fact, losing those 2 for the season would probably be worse than losing Allison and Deadmarsh for the season. Seriously.
The LA Kings *need* another tough, dependable defenseman.
Ejh18 09-29-2003, 01:32 PM Not out of the question from the Columbus side.
McLean has mentioned his liking for Gleason in the past... so I wouldnt put it past him to try and grab him... but I doubt he would do it now, but as someone already said probably a deadline deal....
andora 09-29-2003, 11:19 PM what about aaron ward in la? certainly not at this price.. but in general.. if it would cost a pick or something...
Herby 09-30-2003, 12:52 AM I know for a fact the Kings wouldn't do this deal, the Kings think the world of Gleason and feel he is a future top pair d-man. He has been awesome in camp and the pre-season and very well may make the opening night roster.
I think the Kings should move Lubo Visnovsky for a grittier d-man.

I would rather move Modry and a 3rd/4th liner for a gritty D-man
