Huh? What do you mean by minority... a non-white person? If so I think it's not totally unlikely you'll see one in the future...

I'm curious as to why the people are so strongly on the no side without any explanation?

Because 'the hockey world' - as the originator put it - is an entity, rather than a being. By it's very nature, the entity is unable to experience the function of drooling.

I'm just being an idiot because this is such a dumb question. Of course we will see a minority hockey phenom one day. I think it is pretty safe to assume the earth will sustain itself for the forseeable future. And as long as hockey continues to be played by the human race, it is statictically certain that eventually a minority person will develop into a phenom.

Unless of course humans interbreed themselves into a uniform race by then, but that's thousands of years away so I doubt it.

Because Jacobv2 is an example of the closed mind, discriminating average hockey fan.

EDIT: I see LeGolie explained (and saved) himself from my wrath. Sorry if you saw my earlier post.

I didn't see it, but even if I did I wouldn't hold any ill will towards you. And I'm positive that Jacobv2 and I were on the same sarcastic page when we wrote our posts.

Yeah, they were being sarcastic guys.

The time will come if you think about the changing demographics in Canada. You have more than significant East Asian, Indian, and Carribean populations in Canada since the 1980s. These immigrants and their children will live a life where hockey is central to existence (let's face it, Canada = hockey!). I think in another 10 years or so, diversity in ice hockey will definately increase.

Not phenom's, but in today's draft you saw Setoguchi and McCardle go in the first round. It's getting better. And for those who say who cares about diversity in hockey...a lot of us do.

Absolutely! I would have found it less likely to find a minority phenom on golf. I don't follow golf but aren't the numbers 1 & 2 players in the world (Woods and V J Sing) minorities?

"The brothers are starting to catch on to this hockey thing..." from the movie "Canadian Bacon"

Isn't there already Jerome Iginla?

May not have the phenom prospect tag, but is still one of the best players in the world.
