Who's hot: Raymond Giroux has enjoyed one of the best camps among the blue liners. He scored a short-handed goal Saturday night. Barring a poor finish to the exhibition season, the 27-year-old Giroux is likely to be the Devils' sixth or seventh defenseman.
Who's not: Without Jamie Langenbrunner's goal-scoring in the playoffs last spring, the Devils never would have reached the Finals. For what it's worth, he has yet to score a preseason goal and leads the Devils in penalty minutes.
The buzz: Coach Pat Burns said this is a "crucial week for making decisions. Do we want to bring guys back who were part of it last year (Tommy Albelin) or go with new blood? We might send a guy down to the minors (perhaps temporarily) and see what will happen."
On tap: The lengthy preseason schedule continues tonight when the Devils face the Boston Bruins at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.
