TO PIT: Brent Johnson, Ryan Johnson
TO STL: Aleksey Morozov
Salary would not be an issue. PIT adds $200,000.
B. Johnson could help out the Pens in net with the change of scenery. I still beleive he has very good talent, but has lost the confidence of his STL teammates. R. Johnson gives 110% every night and I beleive he can play all three forward positions.
Morozov fills some of the void left behind by Stillman in the scoring dept for STL. Also adds some more depth to the Blues forwards.
I don't propose much, so please be gentle. :joker:
Enoch 09-30-2003, 03:17 PM I thought the pens wanted Morozov to play with Lemiux this season. I'm going to go with a no because of that and if they are in dire need for a goalie they should sign MA Fleury

I don't think they drafted a goaltender with the first overall pick just to trade their second best player for one.
The Tang 09-30-2003, 04:18 PM it was announced today that the Pens are in fact trying to sign fleury. plus, if we wanted a goalie, we would have kept hedberg. as much as i would like to trade morozov, we have no need for the return you propose. we have prospects out the ass, we dont need anymroe.

Neither of those players are prospects...
The Tang 09-30-2003, 06:09 PM i know Brent Johnson isnt a prospect. as for the other, we have enough 3rd line grinder types as is, so he is worth even less to us then. if we need a roster spot filled, it goes to a guy in the minors with potetnial. like i said, this deal has nothing that helps the Pens.
AvsGuy 09-30-2003, 06:35 PM pointless deal for both teams, really.
Pittsburgh is strapped for scoring, why trade one of their only scorers for a back-up quality goaltender and a 4th line plugger?
as for St. Louis, they wipe the floor with the Pens on this one, but what if Osgood goes down with an injury? It's Reinhard Divis taking over the reigns again, and lord know the Blue's don't want that happening down the stretch...

I agree, not much point in trading for a goalie, but morozov being the second best player...straka is a lot better than morozov...IMO...
Don'tcry4mejanhrdina 09-30-2003, 06:45 PM Straka is a better player and this is a bad deal from a pens standpoint.

he's far from the second best player on this team.
Aaron Vickers 09-30-2003, 07:46 PM he's far from the second best player on this team.
Morozov is? Who's better after Lemieux? Straka? Even if that is the case, then he's only one away from being the second best. That hardly seems far.
#37-#93-#27* 09-30-2003, 07:48 PM he's far from the second best player on this team.
"One of the better players on the team". How's that?
The Tang 10-01-2003, 04:59 AM unlike my fellow Pens fans, i dont share their view tha morozov has developed into a scorer. he's proven nothing w/o being paried w/ mario as more than 2/3 of his points the last 2 years have come playing him. i dont think he deserves to have good put wih his name. he's like rob brown and warren young.
Evilo 10-01-2003, 06:18 AM Well I think Morozov has developped into a scorer, but time will tell.
In any case this deal makes no sense.
Koltsov71 10-01-2003, 07:03 AM Terrible deal.
Ozy_Flame 10-01-2003, 07:04 AM This is terrible for Pittsburgh. Not only do they give up one of their few producers on their dilapitated forward ranks, but also take a step backwards in acquiring a mediocre goalie RIGHT after dealing away Hedberg. Makes no sense.

WHATS THE POINT!
Pens traded Hedberg for a 2nd.
Hedberg > Johnson
Think. Think.
Now if it was Sejna and Jackman, we'd be talking :P
