TomWaits 10-02-2003, 03:51 AM This is just a thought here, it was widely rumoured that there were problems in the leaf dressing room, even as resently as last wk I heard Glenn Healy talk about it. He refered to Corson as being a major problem that was gone. But Green and Tucker are still good friends/related to Corson and probably were part of the problem. With Green on waivers and Tucker rumoured in every deal do you think that the leafs are trying to clean up the problems that they had the past few years?

If that is the case then why not trade Green and Tucker freeing up spots on the team? It would make more sense to get something for Green rather than nothing. I will hate to see Green go.
wasting time 10-02-2003, 04:04 AM I'm not so sure. Green is more of a follower type. He would get in line once Corson was gone. JF also could care less about that stuff.

I don't know I think it's all been blown way out of preparation . On any team there is a rift between team mates. If the Corson story was true I could see him being alienated by the rest of the team but what is his family suposto do just turn there backs on him because he did a real low thing to another teammate . No Tucker *brother-in-law* and Green *Close Friend* will still stand beside their friend not because they support what he did but they support there friend and personally I think any mature adult would see there stance. But I seriously doubt that it caused the dressing room to become split. Where I am going with this is people read to much into things and I seriously doubt there is any kind of tension in the dressing room now.

Roberts himself has stated that they will have to work on being a closer team this year and that there were problems in teh dressing room. Though I like both Green and cker maybe it is for the best that they move on.
thrill_me_mogilny 10-02-2003, 05:18 AM Well said Shawn and Joey24. As much as I hate to see Travis Green go(assuming he gets picked off on waivers), I really prefer giving his spot to a kid like Matt Stajan. So many of us Leafs fans(and enemies!) have harped on and on about how the Leafs need to get younger up front. This is the perfect chance and I applaud them for taking it. Nieuwy picks up the face off slack left by Green's possible departure, and I'm not worried about the Leafs heart in the playoffs, just their D!

I really think that Stajan would benefit much more from playing in Newfoundland . and getting big minutes then playing in Toronto and getting 4th line duties..
Vincent Vega 10-02-2003, 06:30 AM I think they stuck Green on waivers to make room for Matt Stajan.

it's a possability or they just thought no one would tough Green or Reichel and thought/think the other teams will by pass what the leafs left dangling out.. I think Stajan will or should be sent to SJM...

He's probably been the best player this pre-season. He would do well gettting 10-15 nights a minute. As long as the hopes and dreams of the team are not heaped on his shoulders he should be alright. Either way he is going to be a good player for us.

I have no doubt about it.. I think Stajan will turn out to be a real gem for us. Though He is still young and I would rather see him get upwards of 20 minutes a night as I feel he could get in SJM system then 11 minutes or less on the pro roster. I think Stajan could be a real leader in Newfoundland and gain tunes of confidence in becoming a leader for that team and through out the season if injuries occur or trades happen you could look at bringing him up but with the roster we have now there is no real rush for him on the Pro team. That's just my opinion and how I see the situation.
sluggo* 10-02-2003, 07:06 AM I don't think its so much that they want to get rid of those players, but that those players aren't as usefull to teh Leafs as they were a couple years ago, and they are becoming expendable. Because the Leafs now have several young fowards who can step up onto the toronto team they can afford to lose players like Tucker and Green, so why protect them or refuse to trade them for the help that the team needs.
I wouldn't be susprised to see Green picked up by someone, and while think Reichel might, I wouldn't be susprised either way.
Leaf Army 10-02-2003, 07:10 AM Bill Watters feels that Green is probably gone. He's speculating that since the Leafs protected Perrott, they must be trying to deal Belak or Domi.

I doubt Belak would get you much, perhaps a 5th. Although he is a nice guy to have around because he can play forward or D. I still don't think Domi is going anywhere because of what he means to this team. That one would surprise me.
