According to the Boston Bruins.com website, the starting lineup (forwards) against the Wings tonight will be as listed below.

Any thoughts ? The 4th line looks to be a pretty physical line.

Where's Zino ?

I like these lines alot. Huml should open up the play of the first line a bit. Sammy, Rollie, and Knuble is a heck of a second line. Patrice with Axe and Zamuner is brilliant, and the fourth line is a killer. Print it!!! :)

I like these lines alot as well...

Once the season starts I would give Bergeron his ten games, and then replace him with Zino...so the lines eventually would look like this...

Huml-Thornton-Murray
Sammy-Rolly-Knuble
Axe-Zino-Zam/Lapointe
Zam-Stock-Mccarthy/Grosek

Why would you want to mess with success?

I realize this is only an exhibition game, but, the line of Knuble-Thornton-Murray was awesome last year, one of the best in the league.

Rolston is not the playmaker Stumpel was. Samsonov healthy can be a great weapon with an efficient passer in the middle.

Why would you want to mess with success?

Wasn't the Axelsson-Rolston-LaPointe line one of the best defensive combos in the league last year? And, it pumped in quite a few goals as well. True, LaPointe is out for a month. But why break up an effective combo like Ax and Rolston?

Why is everyone putting Zinovjev in as #2 or #3 centre? Has he proven he can do the job? I would demote him to Providence to learn about life in the work-a-day world or NHL hockey and go out and get a centre. Or wait for Hilbert to round into shape and, if he proves himself, hand him a centre job after Bergeron is returned to Juniors.

On the last point about Zinovjev. I know he has a one way contract and he can return to his beloved Siberia if he doesn't make the NHL roster. But there are ways to negotiate that issue. He could play there for a month or so. Then the decision can be made, depending upon his performance.

Too many posters are ceding him a roster slot. And, he hasn't shown me diddly yet, except for good skating, defensive play and stickhandling.
He needs to have a complete package to compete at this level.

I probably shouldn't be throwing this in as I'm not really sure on the subject, but I believe that the problem with sending Zino down to Providence is that the B's can't. I've read from all of my great sources (other posters on this board) that if zino doesn't make the Boston team that he goes back to Russia. I've also heard that he is allowed to be sent down on a conditioning stint, but that's the only way he laces up for the P-Bruins. On another note someone also brought up the point that having Zino try to switch coaches and cities at this point might not be the best thing for him. I like the Idea of keeping Zino on the 4th line while Bergeron get's his games in and then move Zino up to the 2nd or third line if he's ready. If he isn't then we need to go sign a guy like Oates to fill that gaping hole we have for a second line center. Again I could be wrong on the whole Zino to Providence thing, if he can be sent down I wouldn't be opposed to sending him down until Bergeron get's his 9-10 games in. I just don't know if his contract will allow it.

Why would you call it success last year...Did they win the Cup? No, they didnt...until they do there is always room for tinkering and improvement...There might be a better combination out there yet to be discovered...I am glad Sully hasnt put together solid lines yet..Its still preseason, and only the beginning of the season....there is still time to tinker with the lineups...If they dont work then go back to the way the lines were...but for now experiment...its not going to get better if you dont...Later

I wouldn't call them one of the best, but they were better than average when they were together. Axe and Rolston form probably the best shorthanded duo in the league though. I think the best checking line the Bruins had in recent memory was the Axe-Taylor-Dimao line...

He's a very good skater, stickhandler and passer. He's a very good defender. He can operate in traffic.

I think we can afford to show a little patience. He isn't a defensive liability. He can patrol the wing on the fourth line until he's ready to center a line. Whose roster spot is he taking while we get him up to speed? Grosek's?

Folks, any idea if the game is on Boston radio and if so, will it be streamed over the internet? Also, if we happen to leave Cujo in Boston, do you think anyone will notice? lol

One possibility that nobody mentioned on this thread was the following:
everybody agrees on the idea of keeping Bergeron for 9 or 10 games,I think, but nobody mentions to keep him with the pros if he ends up doing the job. I would dare say that if he does the job allright for 9 games it would be worthed keeping him for the season even at 18.
I know Bergeron well being from Bathurst and I know that he is a faceoff specialist, is a very good passer and setup player, can skate through traffic and wil not back up. Also he has hockey sense and that nothing or nobody can buy it, you got it or you don't and very few have it.
Finally he is very defensively conscious which is a rare commodity for a Junior player and usually takes 2 or 3 years in the pros to achieve for a rookie.

If, when his 9 games are up, he's prooven to be the best player for the 2nd line center position, I don't see how or why he should be returned to juniors. But that's a very big IF. We have to wait and see and be happy we have such a bright prospect in our system.

"Zino" is nursing a sore groin. If his nickname had stayed "Zina" as many of you had asserted initially - he'd have been kept out simply to "nurse"

So he skates well, plays good defense, and is a good stickhandler.

Maybe if he isn't the complete package yet, there is certainly room in the NHL for guys who skate well, and play good defense. PJ Axelsson has been playing in the league for years with just those skills, and PJ isn't a complete players (can't finish)

Realistically how many guys on the Bruins have the "complete package"
Lapointe? NO
Axe? No
Stock? No
Huml? No
Rolston? Maybe
Knuble? No
Sammy? Maybe
Joe? Basically

What is teh complete package.

Samsonov has always impressed me more as a playmaker than a finisher.

Rolston is just the opposite.

It's beneficial to see if they possess any chemistry.

As BigbadB mentions, what exactly do they have to lose?

For all the talk about lines, in NHL history, its often been duos that have worked offensive magic.

you can hide a Huml on a line w/ Joe and Murray...you can't hide him on a line w/ Rolston and anyone else.

you need two dangerous lines to win...I like Sammy wheeling a dealing with Rolston...trying to make room for Rolston to get a shot off, plus I like Knuble, mucking on this line.

Murray needs to be w/ Joe, but I'd rather see Axelsson on this line then Huml.

Last year in Ottawa...they lost in OT 3-2,as I remember , a line of Axellson, Murray and Thornton, were dominate early...

Axelsson-Thronton-Murray
Samsanov-Rolston-Knuble

the 3rd and 4th lines...need some work!!!
