"The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins reduced their roster Thursday, sending 12 players to the Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League.

Assigned to Wheeling were forwards Jim Abbott, Brandon Doria, Jean-Francois DuFour, Mark Kosick, Jason Jaffray, Jacques Lariviere, Mike Lephart, Martin Pacquet, and J.C. Ruid, defensemen Jake Ortmeyer and T.J. Reynolds and goaltender Nick Boucher."

Nothing too shocking, however I would have not minded seeing Ruid one more time, he had a good preseason game, why not give the guy second chance. Glad to see Paddock stick. He deserves it.

Actually I know Lephart because of his days in Philly, good defensively but thats about it, hard for defensive minded forwards to get back up once sent down, he didn't do much in the AHL and probably won't be a prolific goal scorer in the ECHL. I am a bit shocked by the Boucher move, wasn't he a legite prospect at one point?

Boucher was never legit.

He was a 9th rounder in 2000.

Abbott and Boucher were in Penguins camp this year.

Lephart, Jaffray, and Ruid were those three signings from around a month ago or so. If anyone remembers those signings, there was some question as to whether those "W-B/S depth guys would take spots from legit prospects." Well, I guess not right away.

And rightfully so, no reason to have 26/27 yr old career minor leaguers playing in front of younger legit prospects. Good call on the part of the baby pens. However, I will admit Ruid had a pretty good preseason game and has some size, would not have been a crime to keep him around for one more game. Lephart and Jaffray are ECHL'rs.

Paddock has not signed a contract, has he?
