Asian League's Korean side Halla has signed a new Czech head coach, Otakar Vejvoda, who used to play with Furukawa in the Japan league (now suspended for the Asian League). He is also the former coach of Kladno and Litvinov.

I heard a rumour (second hand report) that he is bringing three Czech players with him to play for Halla. One of them being an extraleaguer and a former Czech national team member, a younger player, and an older Nedved brother!

Does anyone have any solid information about this? And since I cannot read Czech, I would appreciate it if a quick summary can be provided if the source is in Czech.

Thank you.

I heard that Jaroslav Nedved (Petr Nedved's older brother) is coming. He also confirmed it himself.

Also Patrik Martinec will come, dont know much about him. And Daniel Seman. Dont know anything about him.

So thats the 3 guys coming.

Thanks for the information! No announcement has been made in English or Japanese that I am aware of, so this is helpful. What else is known about these players? Either way, Halla looks like it should be a better team this year than last, and they came pretty close to earning the last playoff spot last year. Thanks again.

Found the three players stats on HockeyDB.com, great site.

Couple of veterans, one youngster. Two defensemen and a forward. Nedved and Martinec look like they've had some down and/or injured season in the last few years, so hopefully they can regain some of their form and stay healthy.

Is Esa Tikkanen returning for another season as playing coach for Halla?

I might go see more than just one game if so.

Plus with OLN doing online streaming of the NHL (sure hope overseas guys like us can pay for them!), living in South Korea is becoming easier for a hockey fan.

I hope Esa is coming back with Halla, there is one more spot for an import player on Halla. Esa was slow and often spotted cherry picking, but he still has a wicked shot and field of vision (but too old to be a pest apparently :P ) But Halla and Korean hockey was getting Finnish hockey instructions the last couple of years (including Esa and his two comrades stint at Halla) but Halla suddenly turned Czech with the new headcoach and import players, so I'm doubtful about Esa coming back.

Jaroslav Nedved is nothing to be proud of, huge and big defenceman, but with lak of skill and skating. But could be useful physically.

Patrik Martinec is skilled center who was great some years ago over here, he has superb hands and passing, best of this three, but as mentioned, has some problems with injuires.

Daniel Seman si solid defenceman, who works hard. Nothing special in offense, but guy you want to have in a team.
