n May, Yale cyberlaw expert Ernest Miller noticed an astonishing tidbit in a Los Angeles Times story on the Toronto police Sex Crimes Unit's pursuit of pedophiles:
All but one of the [over 100] offenders they have arrested in the last four years was a hard-core Trekkie.
Miller was skeptical but the cops basically stood by their story--at the least, a "majority of those arrested show 'at least a passing interest in Star Trek, if not a strong interest.'" Not just an interest in science fiction generally, mind you. But Star Trek.
But Ellen Ladowsky, an L.A. therapist, thinks there actually is something inherent in the show itself that makes it "irresistible to perverts.".

Must be some connection because my intense hatred for star trek is only outweighed by my intense hatred for children. I guess it works both ways.

TNG is pretty good. But the original is so bad, it goes beyond being so bad that's it's good into the realm of eye gougingly bad.
Not a big fan of space travel fiction in general...

Agreed.
Unfortunately, hating the little ****ers isn't as socially acceptable as hating Star Trek.
Well, I'm on of the two that watches Start Track. But that maily because it's science fiction. I like a lot of science fiction and fantasy things though, so I'm not a pedophile.

I used to watch the original Star Trek and TNG quite often when I was younger. The later series just aren't as good...

That kind of behavior seems to run within the SciFi community. The guy that help start DragonCon here in Atlanta was arrested several years ago on child molestation charges and remains in jail awaiting trial. A lot of kids that have interests in this stuff are usually the ideal prey for these predators, as at many of these conventions, you have people of all ages and backgrounds there and is pretty much an ideal hunting ground for Chester the Molester.
