No huge deal, but I think Hamel would have been a useful call-up at times, and Brookbank would have been nice to compliment the blueline in Bingo. As for Hamel and Brookbank, I liked them both but this is hardly going to sink the ship. It does, however, take a bit of the edge out of our lineup. But with Payer, Smrek, Corso, Langfeld, Giroux, Vermette, Schubert... the depth is still pretty good. I think I would have prefered it if we'd picked up someone like Brad Larsen or Steve Kelly, but Metropolit is an interesting player. Metro's contract with Jokerit allows him to come back to play with any teams he chooses. I can't understand why the organization gave Hamel a contract this summer only to keep him out of the protected players list and see him taken at the waiver draft. It doesn't really make sense. I saw the game and he had quicks.
