Jacob 08-26-2005, 08:37 PM List 'em.
1. Time Chasers. Simply the funniest episode. Some great one-liners. The movie itself is not that bad, though.
2. "Manos" The Hands of Fate. Some parts of this movie baffle even them, but they still make it pretty funny. "Boy.. I'm torn. Torgo? Wife? Hmm.."
3. Boggy Creek 2.
4. Space Mutiny. Haven't seen it in a while but I remember it being hilarious.
5. Soultaker. When the biggest talent in the movie is Robert Z'dar, you're going to have some hilarity.
Big McLargehuge 08-26-2005, 08:42 PM Any list without The Final Sacrifice in it is insantly worthless. :)
Honestly, for how much I love the show only The Final Sacrifice, Manos, and Gamera vs. Guiron are on the top pier by themselves. Almost everything else is grouped together.
Hasbro 08-26-2005, 08:48 PM 1.Manos (stock answer for a reason)
2.Godzilla vs. Megalon (The Redenbocker's is their best host segment.)
3.Mitchel (Joe Don!)
4.Zombie Nightmare (Adam West!)
5.Red Zone Cuba (Coleman Francis and Night Train to Mundo Fine)
Best Short: A Date With YOur Family (highlights all the wonderful repression, anachronisms and ametuerness of educational shorts)
Best Song from a host segment: Patrick Swayze Christmas
Best Song in theatre: Fugitive Alien "He Tried to Kill me with a Forklift!"
Best Invention: Tragic Moments Hummel figurines "Daddy's liquid breakfast, chasing the ball into the street."

5. This Island Earth (I'll count it)
6. Santa Claus
7. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians

tom_servo 08-30-2005, 09:58 AM Eegah!, Attack of the the Eye Creatures, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Horrors of Spider Island, Beatniks

It's not on any of the RHNIO DVD sets. Which is a shame, since I "less than three" it so much. I also wish Final Justice came out on DVD so I can see Mike destroy the man, the myth, and the legend that is Joe Don Baker.

I wouldn't start with this one. Supposedly, it's one of the toughest episodes to sit through, being just as bad as manos, w/o joel and the bots easing the pain as much. If you're new to the show, I'd save that one for a bit later. As Linus mentioned, Bride of the Monster would be a good starter.

1) Space Mutiny - Finally, Christmas comes to Santa!
2) Quest of the Delta Knights - I'm coming!!! Plus the Leonardo di Vinci skit was great.
3) Time Chasers - Seriously, he made a time machine out of a cropduster, come on now...
4) Pumaman - Take that members of Boston!
5) Prince of Space/Invasion of the Neptune Men - Since they're basically the same movie, and they're both hysterical, they should go here.
Honorable mention to Gorgo [Dorkin], Final Sacrifice [Rowsdower *sigh*], and Horror of Party Beach [Sodi-um, So-oh-di-uh-uh-um!].

I also think that the Space Mutiny was their most brilliant episode ever. Howthey kept running the main character's name joke into the ground was hilarious.
Hull Beefplank!
Joe Chesterfield!
Thick Slabhearst!
There were two other movies that were insanely bad
Hobogoblins I think it was called. That movie was so terrible that it was great.
The one with puppet dinosaurs... I can't think of the title but it had a Jean Claude Van Damme wannabe in it and the action in the film was a guy holding a pupper dinosaur in front of the camera? Damn... this is going to bug me if I can't think of the title. It was the movie with the nun and all sorts of random stupid things?
By the way, MST3K actually showed two movies I really liked. Their final episode with Diabolik I thought was classic but I actually liked the film itself. And the second one was about the theif, the waitress, and that hippy guy going to LA? Was it called Girl in Gold Boots I think? I really liked that movie too. The campy 60s films were always a riot.
Glad to see Prince of Outer Space mentioned, that movie was great. I love how they dealt with the horribly long timespans of stock footage. "I think this is the Magnificent Ambersons!"
How the hell did we get this far without mentioning The Great Spider Invasion?
"Sorry Gary, I only speak siren" and the crazy yells and horrid acting... and Barbara Hale falling down a hill with that guy who looks Ron Jeremy ontop of her. "PACKERS!!!" And dude... dude... Alan "DOH!" Hale... come on.
I also, can't believe there isn't more love for Werewolf? That movie was so insanely bad and hilarious that I can't believe there isn't more love.
"Boom! Another hair style!" "Have you noticed my accent has gotten as bad as yours?"
Damn I miss that show.

TV's Frank: Coming, sir!
[hushed voice]
TV's Frank: I just wanted to say how really sorry I am about Manos: the Hands of Fate .I mean, I know it's our job to send you really bad movies, but this time, even I have to admit, we really went too far. I'm really sorry.

I think it was because they spent too much time on the skits. I know they had more time than they did during the show, but sometimes the skits were the part of the show that slowed things down to a crawl. Not always, of course. But during the Movie, I think they got a little carried away and ended up editing out a bit too much of the movie.
Yeah, if they just wanted to do one of these every other year or so, I'd buy 'em!
Hasbro 10-17-2005, 08:35 PM They had alot of studio interference and had the thing focus grouped to death, instead of being tailored to the MST3K audiance. They had to scrap the last host segment (it continued from Crow grabbing the chainsaw.) The studio didn't "get it" so it got a weird release schedule and died in the theatres. It would move from town-to-town every week (how I missed it until video). The whole movie is shorter than This Island Earth is.
You think it cost $8 million to make with a reasonable release they could have turned a decent profit.
Two movies I would have loved for them to get is Flash Gordon and Dungeons and Dragons
guinness 10-17-2005, 08:41 PM I liked This Island Earth just for the fact that Professor was in it and they could throw in a few Gilligan's Island jokes.
I wish (although it would never happen) was for MST3K to rip on a good/decent movie, or at least a bad movie that had a good cast, like For Whom the Bell Tolls, Duel in the Sun or Airport '77.

jiggs 10 10-18-2005, 04:12 PM How could I forget "Eegah"? That episode was really funny, if just to see Arch Hall Jr.'s face!
"Watch out for snakes!"
"wheeeeee!"
"Stop saying wheee! NOBODY says wheee!"
And when he's playing an acoustic guitar in the desert, and you hear other instruments AND backup singers....?
And good old Richard Keil ("Jaws" from James Bond films). Nothing else needs to be said.
Unholy Diver 10-20-2005, 02:22 AM I need to get back to watching these more regularly, that damn job is cutting into my time too much
DevilFisch 10-21-2005, 06:20 PM And when he's playing an acoustic guitar in the desert, and you hear other instruments AND backup singers....?
Coming close on the dumb-o-meter is Arch Hall Jr. playing an electric guitar with an amp right next to the swimming pool.
The movie was good for showing us how not to shave.
By the by, some of those MST shorts are classic, like Are You Ready For Marriage? Counselor: "There's more to marriage than just 'boing'."
Hasbro 10-21-2005, 06:28 PM A Date With Your Family... the Woody Allen Story
"Emotions are for ethnic people"
"Father feigns eating draws junior out and disowns him."

Hired!
There are 2 parts.
guinness 11-08-2005, 08:30 PM Even with Joel and the Bots, this movie doesn't make any sense. And that kid's squeaky voice is incredibly annoying (was it dubbed?). Surprised they didn't pick up on some of the continuity errors.
"Looks like a cross between a pig and a bear." - "A pear?" - Hunter/Crow
BackGroundMusic 11-08-2005, 08:54 PM I always really liked the Leonardo di Vinci skit in Quest of the Delta Knights. "Crow. I like that. Crow."
As far as shorts go, I LOVE the Gumby short, Robot Rump. Err, Rumpus. Also, the short titled "Cheating" had some great moments. For a few years I had this sound
file play whenever anybody signed on to AIM:
- You can see that this boy needs help.
- He's a loser and the kids let him know it.
I absolutely loved the Gamera movies....they were so cheesy they were hilarious.
We did kind of an MST3K on a New Year's Eve with friends, and we trashed the third of the Alien movies...can't remember which one that was. We love getting together with friends and trashing flicks MST style.
I think they should have trashed "Buckaroo Bonzai"...that movie was SO lame!

That's a New Years tradition with my buddies too. Our biggest hits: Dungeons and Dragons, Flash Gordon (the 80's homoerotic one), I am Sam (which is not for novices), Like Mike and Phantom Menace.
We don't confine ourselves to just New Year's...any time we see a trash movie it's open season.
Dungeons and Dragons sounds like a perfect MST fodder.
Hasbro 11-10-2005, 07:04 AM Dungeons and Dragons sounds like a perfect MST fodder.
Possibly the best MST3K episode that wasn't. It's also got one of the best trainwreck commentary tracks in history.
For being such good movies LOTR is surprisingly good fodder for MST3K the home game
"Fire at will!"
"Which one's Will"
"One ring to rule"
"Class of 84"
A few years ago there was an absolutely horrid movie that came out called "Starship"...if that movie ever shows up on tv or video sometime, I swear that will be the best fodder for MST treatment. It makes "Plan 9 From Outer Space" look like "Citizen Kane".
If you could resurrect the show, which movie would you trash?

there have been so many crappy films put out in recent years Im not even sure where to begin

And there's still a ton of movies from the 1960's and '70's to cover, go look at some of the movies at www.5minutesonline.com
I found Mr. No Legs on emule, still have to finish watching that.

Loved the MST3K treatment of Future War (I have the uncut version of the movie too).
jiggs 10 11-20-2005, 12:06 AM A funny story about MST3K...
The first time I saw it was at a friend's house in Hopkins, MN in 1991. He woke me up after a night of drunken bliss at his townhouse to watch "this frikkin' funny show WE should be doing!". It was MST3K, and after about 5 minutes I looked at him and said "We've been doing this for years! You mean someone down here in Minneapolis is getting PAID for this?" We were both bummed out, except that the show was SOOOOO funny! Then we found out it was made right near there (in fact, the mailing address was in his suburb). And a girl I went to high school with worked on the show! I became an immediate fan.

If time is not a factor, I want the righteous thrashing of The Trial of Billy Jack (Why? This review sums it up pretty nicely. (http://www.jabootu.com/tobjintro.htm)).
Among more recent movies? I'd pay good money to see the S.O.L. crew drop a train on Starship Troopers and/or Starship Troopers 2.
ASIDE: I ordered Volume 8; I can't wait for Hobgoblins!
Hasbro 11-20-2005, 11:58 AM Since they referenced it alot and it is just so goffy, they should have gotten ahold of Dune.

Oh wouldn't "Starship Troopers" be a fun one to blast? And "Dune" might be a good one too. I also vote for any movie with Steven Seagall, Jean Claude Van Damme, John Travolta, and The Matrix movies.
