Legace for sure.
Jani Hurme.

Mika Noronen maybe, as well.

Anywhere else, Manny Legace is a starter.

I'll disagree with that statement. He's a back-up on well over half the teams in the NHL

What goalie wouldnt have those same stats if they played behind what Detroit has put on the ice over the years?

Manny Legace. He would be a starter on many teams I wouldnt go as far as saying backup on half of the teams though.

Well lets see, shall we?

New Jersey Devils - no. (Martin Brodeur)
New York Islanders - yes.
New York Rangers - no. (Mike Dunham)
Philadelphia Flyers- probably not. (Esche/Hackett)
Pittsburgh Penguins - yes.
Boston Bruins - yes.
Buffalo Sabres - no. (Martin Biron)
Montreal Canadiens - no. (Jose Theodore)
Ottawa Senators - no. (Patrick Lalime)
Toronto Maple Leafs - no. (Eddie Belfour)
Atlanta Thrashers - yes.
Carolina Hurricanes - maybe. (Kevin Weekes)
Florida Panthers - no. (Roberto Luongo)
Tampa bay Lightning - no. (Nikolai Khabibulin)
Washington Capitals - no. (Olaf Kolzig)
Chicago Blackhawks - no. (Jocelyn Thibault)
Columbus Blue Jackets - no. (Marc Denis)
Detroit Red Wings - no. (Dominik Hasek)
Nashville Predators - maybe. (Tomas Vokoun)
St. Louis Blues - no. (Chris Osgood)
Calgary Flames - no. (Roman Turek)
Colorado Avalanche - yes.
Edmonton Oilers - no. (Tommy Salo)
Minnesota Wild - probably not. (Dwayne Roloson)
Vancouver Canucks - no. (Cloutier/Hedberg)
Anahiem Mighty Ducks - no. (Gigeure)
Dallas Stars - no. (Marty Turco)
Phoenix Coyotes - no. (Sean Burke)
San Jose Sharks - no. (Evgeni Nabokov)

So here's the tally;

Teams he would most likely be a starter on = 6 by my count...

Leaving 24 or so teams that he would be a backup on. He wouldn't be a start on many teams, he would be riding the pine on most teams. He is a good goalie, and possibly the best backup in the league right now, but being the best backup and starter material are two different things.

Make it five, he wouldn't start ahead of Vokoun.

Legace will never be a starter because he can't handle the work load. I cant imagine his stats if he plays over 60 games. Hes a small goalie, keep in mind. The best he can be is a 1b.

i can't imagine how he got a "maybe" out of that one, either...especially with guys like turek and osgood getting "no's"

Yeah, thats true. Especially Osgood, Legace all but beat him out in Detroit. I bet if Osgood stayed in Detroit one more year (w/ no Hasek), Legace would have been number one.

Doesn't matter, he wouldn't start over Cechmanek.

How about Markkanen? I haven't seen much of him personally but Oiler fans have said he's a capable starter.

say what ya want but here his nhl stats

he was 24 -5-5 with a 2.05 gaa in 2000-2001 and he played 39 games that year

i think that he the best back up in hockey right know bar none and i think he could be the starter after hasek leaves after this year.he signed a 4 yr deal worth 4.8 million, that a steal for his number

Mighty Duck Martin Gerber has the ability to be #1
His stats during last season were better then Giguere's actually
though the team had trouble winning in front of him
That's the main reason why Ducks fans weren't worried if Giguere held out this off-season
