Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons received goals from right wing Fredrik Sjostrom and defenseman Igor Knyazev (left) in a 2-2 deadlock of the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Springfield Civic Center on Friday night. Rookie goaltender David LeNeveu stopped 26 of 28 shots while playing the game’s full 65 minutes in the Falcons’ net.

With Springfield trailing 2-0, Sjostrom put the Falcons on the board with a goal on a partial breakaway 12:33 into the first period. Sjostrom was able to get behind the Hartford defense to collect a lead pass from left wing Frantisek Lukes in the neutral zone on the play.

this will probably jinx him but LeNeveu just rarely lets anyone score more than two on him. I keep waiting for a blow out against to bring down my enthusiasm for this kid but it didn't happen last year and so far so good this year against better competition. Has he moved up to #1?

Well if he starts playing horrible we'll know who to blame ;)

I already have a bad karma thing with LeNeveu. I boo'd at his selection at the 2002 entry draft because Juri Hudler was still available. If he's playing this well to spite me then keep going.

I just thought it was great that both Sjostrom and Knyazev scored. Both seem to have far too many whiners about them ... unjustly too I might add.

Absolutely. I was happy to see that these two made a difference. Our best hope for the future is that the young guys develop properly. And Fred and Igor are two of our few prospects that can become stars at the NHL level.
