Make your opening night lines

Another thing to kill the time until the puck drops: Let's assume Miller, Deader and Allison Don't make the opening night roster

Here is the team (From Tubby's post about the cuts)

So... here they are, YOUR LOS ANGELES KINGS:

Goal: Cechmanek, Huet

Defense: Corvo, Modry, Norstrom, Visnovsky, Gleason, Holland, Strbak
(and Miller, whose status is questionable until Tuesday's final roster)

Forward: Stumpel, Palffy, Frolov, Robitaille, Armstrong, Klatt, Avery, Laperriere, Belanger, Chartrand, Pirnes, Sim, Brown, Brennan
(and of course, if Bartecko is signed and if Deadmarsh is not placed on IR, further pruning is necessary.)

IR: Aulin, Cammalleri, Allison, Norton (and probably Deadmarsh, maybe Miller.)

Frolov Stumpel Palffy
Luuuuuc Army Klatt
Brown Pirnes Sim <---This line produces
Avery Ebel Lappy

Corvo Norstrom
Lubo Strbak
Modry Gleason

Those lines would likely be my guess, though the Belanger would definetly see more minutes than the Pirnes line and be the "3rd" line.

Chartrand might find a spot in there though. Either in place of Pirnes or Sim. And Brennan probably doesn't dress against a team like Detroit.

That defense is SCARY bad though.

I'd take Pirnes over Sim. What about you guys?

i'm all about pirnes; i think a third line of pirnes, belanger, and lappy or avery would be good, and could put up a surprising number of points. that would push brown down to the fourth line, but i could see him being worked (somehow) into the power play.

especially, now that i think about it, if he's (brown) only going to be up for ten games. if he's going to be up for a limited time, you might as well give him a full chance to produce amd see what he's got on a scoring line and on the power play.

What about putting Brown in the top 6 instead of Klatt? Have Klatt on the 3rd or 4th line and the PK:
Frolov-Stumpel-Palffy
Luc-Armstrong-Brown
Pirnes-Belanger-Klatt
Lappy-Avery-Brennan

klatt gets a shot at the first line (one of the perks of signing w/ the kings), so he'll prob start up as a top 6er.

our defense isn't THAT bad, i actually think we're pretty decent. once we get miller back, we'll have a good defensive line up again.

I posted this in another thread but am not sure if it was read.In the preseason the Kings defense was exceptional.Look at these stats for all 8 games.

SHOTS AGAINST AVG ---21.75
GOALS AGAINST AVG ---1.73

Look at this compared to their offensive numbers.

SHOTS FOR AVG ---36.125
GOALS FOR AVG ---3.34

Other than needing to improve their powerplay I would say the Kings are looking pretty good with what they are going to put on the ice.

You know Spongebob, I am optimistic from the preseason as well, but keep this in mind: Andy Murray's record since he has been the coach, for the preseason, and not including this one, is 21-6. So obviously the Kings preseason play/record has not totally transfered to the regular
season.

Anyway this is how I see it.

Frolov Stumpel Palffy
Deadmarsh Armstrong Klatt
Brown Pirnes Sim
Lappy Belanger Avery

Luc out with knee injury

Norstrom Gleason
Modry Holland
Visnovsky Strbak

Cechmanek
Huet

You have to also remember that the rosters that he coaches in the preseason and the regular season are usually very different. :p
