Sens-Habs

Another sloppy game.

For the Sens, the forward lines are becoming a little clearer.

Varada was playing on the right side, which means he will probably open the season on the right side in Havlat's place. Makes sense given he is the only other natural right winger in the line-up.

Schaefer looked good again, and it looks like he will open the season with Bonk and Hossa, with whom he played this evening. I like that unit.

Vermette looked good. He may yet steal that last LW spot for opening night, although if Hull is ready to go, he might be called upon.

Smoke centered White and Alfie, but I think this was because Spezza was sitting this one out. The other two lines were Schastlivy-Payer-Neil and Vermette-Corso-Varada.

If I had to guess on the opening night lines, they would look something like this...

Schaefer-Bonk-Hossa
White-Spezza-Alfredsson
Schastlivy-Smoke-Varada
Hull-Van Allen-Neil

The D units were Redden-Rachunek, Chara-Phillips and Volchenkov-Pothier...probably the opening night tandems. Makes sense as Jacques probably wanted to give them a dry run against the Habs, as that's who they open the season again.

For the Habs, Ryder really stood out. Probably the best player out there tonight. Other than that, not much to say about the Habs. They played the trap pretty effectively and will probably play a lot of it this season, so I wouldn't take too many Habs in your office pool. Theodore also looked solid.

Certainly not the most entertaining game I've ever seen. It drives me nuts when ref's get inbetween two individuals that want to drop the gloves.. (Neil-Dwyer)

It`s probably good that they did, I`d hate to see Dwyer get his ass kicked once again :D
