My favorite band growing up was without a doubt, Alice in Chains. But over the past several years, I've really gotten into the underground metal scene. Even though I rarely listen to AIC now, I still have to put them at the top of my list:

1. Alice in Chains
2. Dark Tranquillity
3. Opeth
4. In Flames
5. Amorphis
6. At the Gates
7. Isis
8. Katatonia
9. Anathema
10. Hypocrisy

Narrowing my list down to 10 is damn near impossible. There are about a hundred other bands that I could easily put in this list.

Yeah, anything off Satanic Panic In The Attic :p:

Honestly my favorite Of Montreal is definitely one of the "lesser knowns," if a band like this can have those. Art House Solutions definitely speaks to the elitist snobby ******* in me. :sarcasm:

Can't say that I agree it is under-rated. It is their best album. That's like saying that Rubber Soul is under-rated because Sgt Peppers gets all the press. I'd rate the albums:

1. Evil Empire [year of the boomerang]
2. Rage Against the Machine

keep going.........

I don't own any Allman brothers or Dylan albums, that's a sin
Speaking of which...
Bob Dylan, (and the Band for that matter).

Like Costello, Dylan was an acquired taste for me....as I tend to be either rhythm / power / hook oriented for my music. They were just too damn "wordy" for me and it wasn't until I got older that I got appreciate/understand them.

Also hard for me to leave out, the great 50's / early 60's artists:
Chuck Berry ('The Great 28' is one of the best greatest hits lp's around),
Elvis
Jerry Lee Lewis
Little Richard
Eddie Cochran
Bo Diddley
Buddy Holly
the Everly Brothers
Link Wray...

And all the R&B / Blues artists that I love:
Louis Jordan
Muddy Waters
John Lee Hooker
Howlin' Wolf
Dave Bartholomew
Smiley Lewis
Professor Longhair
Sam & Dave
Wilson Pickett

...and the jazz, world and classical artists.....having to pick a definitive DID list would literally kill me
