Seems that from all the talk around here, Simon Lajeunesse wasnt even considered for the back-up role. I always thought that he was going to be the future in Ottawa, but got squeezed with numbers. Is he not that good, even for a back-up? Is he just not nhl ready? Whats his deal?

too young; not enough pro exp.. he'll legitimately fight for an nhl backup job in 2 seasons.

The Senators originally wanted Lajeunesse to be a back-up but he never got the starts in the AHL. Then they waived him to make room for Chouinard who they then lost. I always liked him and hope he can play on a semi-regular basis in the NHL one day.

not exactly, lajeunesse was never waived, he was just traded to the panthers for tetarenko late last season. for a while, after his brilliant 26 game stretch with grand rapids, the senators thought he was the future between the pipes, but he was soon pushed out of the way by ray emery, and then by other ex-panther billy thompson.

Lajeunesse is a great goalie. In his last year in the QHJML, he was as good as Maxime Ouellet, who is considered one of the best goalie prospect in the league...
I'm sure this guy has the potential to be a great goalie in the NHL

I wouldn't have known if you didn't write that. Some posters on these boards speak english and you can barely understand what they mean.

Lajuenesse looks to be ECHL destined, much like Ty Garner was last year, as our 5th string goalie, unless Valiquette is claimed off waivers when he's sent down. Lajuenesse seems to have a hard time holdin on to AHL roster spots, let alone at havin a chance at a consistent NHL back-up job. I believe he was just one of Dudley's boys in Ottawa.
