Too early for Brent Burns?

I'd like to see some opinions here, who thinks we brought him in too early? (I know it's a bit early to tell seeing how the season hasn't started yet, but what do you think as of right now)

Having never seen him play, I feel a little silly voting, but that hasn't stopped me before. :)

I said no, primarily because of the things we've heard about him from the coaches, as well as how impressed Bob and Tom seemed to be with him on the radio the other night. The quotes from Lemaire and Risebrough are what convince me though, including this one from Riser:
"I think we've looked at it and said, 'He's here for the year,' " Risebrough said. "There's no going back. There's no going back for him, and there's no going back for us."
I trust those guys to know what they're doing. They've seen quite a lot of him over the past few weeks, and if they think he's ready, then I say he's ready. I put extra trust in Lemaire. Lemaire seems to be very patient with development, and that's comforting. I don't think he'd keep Burns up unless he thought Burns could handle it. He's said as much concerning other players in the past.

I just got done watching the channel 9 preview and they had DR on. Pretty much said that Burns is here to stay just like Bouchard. He did say that he will play early to get a read on him and then evaluate him. But he also said that he feels comfortable that Burns is here to stay for the entire season. I voted no by the way.

I too have not seen him play a full game, but could only speculate that he is ready. He has the size we desperately need and from all accounts brings an aggressive game to the ice. Yeah he didn't have 200 pts last year in juniors, but he'll be playing in our oppourtunistic system. If he can forecheck and play smart in the neutral zone he'll do just fine. On the mucker line with Brunette and Dowd and limited time with P.M.B. and Gabby (if he ever signs...), I could see 20-25pts in his rookie contest.

It was probably more of a risk to keep Bouchard -- at least Burns is big, and can probably take more punishment than PM.

I say "No" I trust our coaching staff, I dont think they would have kept him up here if he wasnt ready. Doug R expects him to stay the whole year here with the Wild.

I'd like to hear some of the "yes" arguments... anyone?

I agree with all of the "No" people out there. Lemaire thinks he has nothing to gain at the junior level. I do not doubt Lemaire in his decisions regarding our youngsters.

I bet you all the yes people aren't Wild fans and all the No people are Wild fans. :]
I said no.

I said yes. Still has lots of junior availability left and would have improved a lot more there versus being in and out of the lineup here. But that's why Jacques makes the big bucks and I work for a living.

I too would like to see some of the yes voters post their opinion. So I'm going to close this thread, and start a new one with the same topic but make it public so we can see who votes for what. No more hiding!!!
