This is not really a big surprise. I wish (English) Canadians had more interest in their own country's films. :shakehead There are many Canadian films that get released theatrically in Canada yet they are often overlooked.

It'd be interesting to see some stats on how many theatres actually show Canadian films, aside from the bigger budgeted flicks like Ginger Snaps and Cube.

I'm not sure the budget matters. I think that Canadian theatres generally pass over Canadian films just because they are Canadian.
