LegomyLeggio 10-06-2003, 04:08 AM Matt had a hat trick in Clarkson's Green and Gold game intrasquad scrimmage this past weekend.
With the change in coaching staffs and the defections from the Knights blueline, I'd expect Nickerson to get a lot more ice time than he would have at Michigan.

Sideshow 10-17-2003, 07:15 PM Hey guys - sorry to revive an old thread, but I saw Nickerson in action tonight in his first regular season collegiate game. He was on the first pairing with Ken Scuderi and probably received about 22-24 minutes of ice time. He got right into it almost on the first shift after Andrew Murray crumpled a Golden Knight into the end boards. Got right up in Murray's grill and gave him a talking to. Nickerson is a BIG kid. He was a major **** disturber most of the night and had the entire BSU squad making sure they knew where he was when he was on the ice. His defensive positioning could use a little work and he had a couple of horrendous giveaways, but hey, it's the kid's first collegiate game, he was the youngest player on the ice, and at 6'4" and almost 240 pounds, he's going to be given leeway. He even showed a flash or two of offensive talent, leading the rush a few times.
He plays here again tomorrow night, I'll give you guys another update if you like.

I can not wait till this boy hits the AAC ice.. This is one of the best D picks since you know who??? Big, mean, can skate, can handle the puck, here is an early HSO.. This kid is going to be a force in the NHL within the next 5 years.. The sooner the better... :yo: :yo:
Hey Bob.. Please keep us informed on his progress..HH99

LegomyLeggio 10-28-2003, 04:16 AM This past weekend Matt picked up his first points of the season as he scored a goal in each game in a weekend series with Colorado College.
Matt is logging a lot of ice time and getting plenty of PP time with the Golden Knights.
And he is proving to be much more than merely a lugnut.
It looks to me like Matt is going to be one of the cornerstones that new Clarkson head coach George Roll builds the team around. And I think Matt's decision to go to Clarkson and play more rather than go to Michigan and wait his turn was a really good move on his part.

Matt had 3 assists (1 SH and 2 on the PP) in Saturday's game against Sacred Heart.
Matt is now tied for 3rd in team scoring with 2g and 3a on the season.
Thank goodness Michigan was overloaded on the blueline and Matt decided to come to Clarkson!!!!!
ice_man 11-11-2003, 06:24 AM Matt had another great weekend, scoring the game tying goal with three minutes left to play on Friday, and registering a +3 in Saturday's win.
By the way, he racked up 25 minutes in penalties Friday night. That is not easy to do in college. This kid is fun to watch.
