ajsonor 10-06-2003, 05:49 AM This should be the roster as it stands. I wouldn't be suprised if the team started the year with 3 goalies. Does anyone know how the team can handle Hecht and Boulton's injuries. Can they be placed on IR and the team receive a roster exemption. Does Connolly count if he is suspended for the first two games?
RW Maxim Afinogenov
RW Milan Bartovic
LW Jason Botterill
LW Eric Boulton
C Daniel Briere
C Curtis Brown
C Tim Connolly
C Chris Drury
RW J.P Dumont
LW Paul Gaustad
LW Jochen Hecht (injured)
RW Ales Kotalik
C Artem Kriukov
C Adam Mair
LW Andrew Peters
LW Taylor Pyatt
C Derek Roy
RW Miroslav Satan
C Chris Taylor
Brian Campbell
Andy Delmore
Rory Fitzpatrick
Dmitri Kalinin
Jay McKee
James Patrick
Henrik Tallinder
Alexei Zhitnik
GOALTENDERS 3
Martin Biron
Mika Noronen
Ryan Miller
----------------
Here's my guess. I'm going to say they keep all the goalies and defensemen. I'll assume that the injuries and suspensions are exempt until I'm told otherwise.
RW Maxim Afinogenov
LW Jason Botterill
LW Eric Boulton (injured)
C Daniel Briere
C Curtis Brown
C Tim Connolly (suspended)
C Chris Drury
RW J.P Dumont
LW Jochen Hecht (injured)
RW Ales Kotalik
C Adam Mair
LW Andrew Peters

C Derek Roy
RW Miroslav Satan
Brian Campbell
Andy Delmore
Rory Fitzpatrick
Dmitri Kalinin
Jay McKee
James Patrick
Henrik Tallinder
Alexei Zhitnik
Martin Biron
Mika Noronen
Ryan Miller
This leaves the team with 8 D, three goalies, and 12 eligible forwards to start the year.
Takeo 10-06-2003, 06:26 AM I believe Connolly counts on the active roster, but Hecht won't. Can't confirm that though. Eric's due back in a week or so right??

Rhett4 10-06-2003, 12:43 PM We have to be down to 23 right? So does that mean all the injured guys count against that roster number?
I don't think we can carry 8 defenseman and 3 goalies going into the season. If that's the case, and Noronen isn't dealt right away, Miller might be on his way back to Rochester.
when are we gonna find out the final 23? cuz i'm thinking of getting Miller in my pool, but if he's sent down, then i lose a roster spot for a few weeks.. :)
KillToronto 10-06-2003, 06:34 PM Roy should be up there dammit. But maybe he'll tear up the AHL and get a nice call-up a lil into the season.
LegomyLeggio 10-07-2003, 02:30 AM They don't have to count Hecht, Boulton, and Connolly against the 23 man limit right now I believe.
LegomyLeggio 10-07-2003, 05:17 AM Not Hecht or Bolts but not sure about Timmah...he may have to count.
I'm pretty sure you're allowed to replace a suspended player on the active roster.
I mean, I don't think the Yotes had to only go with a 22 man roster when May had that long suspension for that high sticking incident.
I could be wrong though.....

I believe you are correct. Not sure about Boulton though.
Rob Paxon 10-07-2003, 06:54 AM I believe you are correct. Not sure about Boulton though.
He's on the injured reserve, right? How does that work, anyhow? I'd guess it works one of two ways, with the first way being that the player has to be on the list for at least 7 days, but after that he can remain on until taken off. That seems most likely but I could see it also being that once the player is on for 7 days, he must be put back on for another full 7 days, and then another full 7 days, etc. Anyone know which way it is? Hell, the number might not even be 7 days, I'm just going by franchise mode in NHL 2k3.
Anyhow, I'm pretty sure Bolts is on the IR, so either way he doesn't count towards the roster.
LegomyLeggio 10-07-2003, 07:34 AM http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20031007/2013885.asp
Apparently the Sabres have put Hecht, Boulton, and Connolly on IR.
LALALALALALAFONTAINE 10-07-2003, 08:45 AM Why doesn't Connolly serve his suspension while injured? I.e., don't put him on IR until the 3rd game.
