ps-is it possible to get topless chicks oil wrestling?? PLLLEEASE :)
Bruins roll 3-1
Joe, McGillis, Samsonov.
bruins 3-2 in OT. sammy avec the winner :D GO BRUINS GO!!
Sleemans 10-06-2003, 04:21 PM I've got the NHL Center Ice package for my dish, and I can't wait for Wednesday night to get the season going. :handclap: :handclap:

B's 2 Dev's 1
Sammy, Knuble.
bwunderlich 10-06-2003, 04:58 PM FWIW, NHL Center Ice has their free preview from Oct 8-14. So, if you have Time Warner/Cablevision/Comcast, go surfing to the upper channels and you'll see every game for free for a week.
that being said, those of us in NY/NJ are always blacked out for any isles, devils, ranger games and we have to hope the local sports channels (MSG, Fox, Metro, etc) carry the game. there is nothing worse than tuning on Jason Kidd bass fishing with Ted Nugent while the isles and bruins are playing.
anyway, on to the game. hate to be a sourpuss but, given the way in which sully ran pre-season, we really don't have any established lines (outside of our 1st) or d-pairings and who is our #1 goalie?? therefore, i see the bruins starting the season VERY slowly. hopefully everyone will be patient because when the smoke clears, i see 88 pts at years end. 4-1 devils, potvin in net, mcgillis gets lone goal.
Magnus Fulgur 10-06-2003, 07:12 PM 3-1 Devils. Freisen, Gomez, and White (!?) for the bad guys
And Muzz fer dem good guys.
Brodeur in net, Stevens on D. No joy in Mudville.
WickedBruinsGirl 10-06-2003, 07:31 PM http://www.bostonbruins.com/pressbox/pressreleases.asp?type=FS&id=967
The Preview Party information link. Should be a good time for anyone who's going....I'll be there!! :)
Dabruins 10-06-2003, 08:58 PM I say 1-0 Boston, Thornton scores. First shutout of season for the Cat!!!!! MEOW!
Dr Seldon 10-07-2003, 02:16 AM I'm so happy, they are showing the game on TV over here in Sweden. Though it doesn't start until 2am and I have an exam in the moring. Thank the lord for video-recorders :)

I'll watch it live at 2 a.m. but it's worth since Mad Dog and Pando will shut down Thornton and Murray and Mike Rupp will shoot the game winner!
0-1 Devils
GO DEVILS!
Jean_Jacket41 10-07-2003, 03:57 AM 4-2 Bruins.
Knuble with 2, Ax and Boynton.
The Cat is playing great and the first line is Thornton-Murray-Knuble.
We can't have all our eggs in the same basket. Spread the offense.
Thanks Nhl center ice. Cant wait for wednesday!
Go Bs Go!
neelynugs 10-07-2003, 04:03 AM I'll watch it live at 2 a.m. but it's worth since Mad Dog and Pando will shut down Thornton and Murray and Mike Rupp will shoot the game winner!
0-1 Devils
GO DEVILS!
sure
a great way to start the season would be a gordie howe hat trick for thornton. maybe a goal on the first shift, and then after madden pulls his nose out of joe's arse, joe will pound the ever living crap out of him, leaving him only able to mutter one syllable words :joker:
oh, and i'm really looking forward to watching pat burns' system in action. he's a genius
Nightslyr 10-07-2003, 04:17 AM sure

I was just thinking the same thing. I'd love to see Thornton do a Neely vs. Lemiux on Madden. :yo:
Nightslyr 10-07-2003, 04:23 AM I believe that wasn't what happened last year. I remember Thornton shaking Maddens hands then packing up and going home.
And last year impacts tomorrow's game how...? :dunno:

HockeyGoddess 10-07-2003, 05:55 AM Just curious... is the game going to be blacked out in the Boston area on ESPN or is NESN going to carry it? Will it be available on NHL Centre Ice in the general Boston area?
Is ESPN going to be carrying to Sox/Skankees game, thus pushing the B's/Devs game onto NESN?
canadahockeygirl* 10-07-2003, 05:56 AM Bruins over the Devils by 1.
Does anyone have any idea who exactly is going to be signing autographs?

774EVER 10-07-2003, 03:40 PM Who is getting excited??
I'm pumped! Especially now that I have a teaching gig and I have my nights and weekends off. Hopefully I'll never miss another Bruins game again - LOL.
I'm also really curious to see Bergeron and Jillson play.
Any chance of Raycroft starting?
BTW good luck to all of the Sox fans.
P. Bruinette 10-07-2003, 03:48 PM YEAH, Hockey starts!

neelynugs 10-07-2003, 04:01 PM I wish tsn covered this game, I love their coverage.

:joker:
No, he'll go make an American Express commercial with them. :D
nhlbruin 10-07-2003, 06:47 PM By the way, for all you newbies out there who joined over the summer, there's one of these awesome threads, usually made by drury77 (Thanks! ), for every game. They're entertaining and great for instant feedback from fellow Bruins fans across the nation. Personally, I keep refreshing the page every commercial break while watching the game to check out what people have to say about the action. If you miss a game, simply read the thread and you'll get a pretty good feel of what transpired...including all the stuff you can't find on the stat sheet.
TheGasman 10-08-2003, 01:23 AM It is nice to see your work again Drury! She has been giving her heart and soul to the Bruins for a long time. I remember her post like these elsewhere in cyber land in the past and have MISSED them. THANK YOU DRURY77!!!!!
NJ - 4
Bos - 2 Bergeron, Murray
Let's DO it Bruins

NJ - 4
Bos - 2 Bergeron, Murray
Let's DO it Bruins
And you call 4-2 win for NJ "LET'S DO IT BRUINS!" ????
I am not getting my hopes too high but loss 4-2 is not what I call a good game for us!!!
I predict something like 2-1 going anyway.
Also I want to see Bergeron or Green centering Sammy instead of Rolston!
I would like to see these lines:
Knuble - Thornton - Murray
Sammy - Bergeron/Green - Rolston
Axelsson - Bergeron/Green - Samuelsson
Sandy - Stock - Donato/Grosek/Huml
No I actually think that Huml best suited for the top 2 lines ( if he somehow finds scoring touch) and Rolston should play on the 3rd line
but for now....I want to see this.
The only thing that really disappoints me is a half empty rink... :o
usmhuskies 10-08-2003, 05:03 AM B's 3-1...Goals
B's: Samsonov, Knuble, Rolston(en)
Devils: Freisen
Shots: B's (25) Devs(27)
It's something we used to do on fanhome...It was a pretty fun game...
BruinsGirl 10-08-2003, 06:17 AM Devils Lines are in:

Gionta-Igor Larionov-Christian Berglund
Jeff Friesen-Erik Rasmussen-Sergei Brylin
Pandolfo-John Madden-Jamie Langenbrunner
Stevens - Rafalski

Hale - Martin
Brodeur

I don't understand...Will Pando - Madden - Langs really be the forth line? You probably have to swich #2 with #4...

is anyone else surprised that sean brown isn't playing tonight? i know that i am. poor sean- i think he's more than capable to play in this league every night. i wonder what the reasoning is to dress two rookie Dmen and play them on the same pairing :dunno:
thankfully ftorek is gone, or else maybe we'd see jillson and jurcina paired together
neelynugs 10-08-2003, 08:04 AM can't wait to see the famous fat burns in action tonight!! 0-0-5 hockey at its best
i wonder if sinden will fall asleep in his suite :dunno:
MeisterBruinmaker 10-08-2003, 08:17 AM Fox and FX are showing the baseball playoffs in the CS round. The Bruins/Devils game will be ESPN with no NESN coverage.
See tvguide.com/listings for source.
It looks like ESPN has three regional games they will be offering at 8pm EST; ANA vs DAL, CHI vs MIN and BOS vs NJ. Depending on where you live, you get the game in your region. Obviously, that means East coasters get the B's game, Mountain goers get the Chi/Min game and left-coasters get the Dallas/Anaheim game.
Each match is exclusively offered by ESPN, meaning there will be no other coverage available, ie Center Ice. Essentially, unless ESPN offers the Boston game out here in CA -- or a replay, I will get stuck watching only the highlights...
Pffft. Some coverage.
neelynugs 10-08-2003, 08:23 AM Latest lines, according to Boston Bruins website:
Sergei Samsonov – Joe Thornton – Glen Murray
Ivan Huml – Brian Rolston –Mike Knuble
P.J. Axelsson– Travis Green – Sandy McCarthy
Ted Donato – Patrice Bergeron – Martin Samuelsson
Michal Grosek– P.J. Stock – Martin Lapointe
i'd be pretty surprised if stocker wasn't dressed for a home game, but then again, NJ doesn't really have any goons on their team.
Also, as discussed earlier this week, Patrice Bergeron has ditched jersey
No. 56 in favor of No. 37, now that he has made the team.
Milan Jurcina will still wear No. 68 for tonight’s game, but that may not be permanent (I think it's permanent, since I fully believe he's heading back to Providence soon).
EDIT- I suppose this means that Ian Moran is the healthy scratch on D tonight. Who will Jurcina be paired with? Would Sully be crazy enough to match Burns' idea of using 2 rookies on the 3rd pairing??
Finally, Martin Lapointe was cleared to practice today, taking another step towards a return to the line-up that could come as early as next week.
“[He’s doing] pretty well,” said Sullivan. “He’s ahead of schedule and he’s feeling pretty good. Don Del Negro felt that he could practice with the team to get his timing back. I think he’s moving forward.
“I would imagine [he would play] sometime next week. When that is, I’m not sure.”
TMac21 10-08-2003, 08:36 AM Latest lines, according to Boston Bruins website:

Ivan Huml – Brian Rolston –Mike Knuble
P.J. Axelsson– Travis Green – Sandy McCarthy

I don't know what it is about these lines that makes my stomach turn, but I just don't feel confident with them.

Still a Bruin fan 10-08-2003, 02:51 PM I ordered up the center ice package on digital cable down here.
The channel it's supposed to be on doesn't list any game at 8:00, but I hope and expect this isn't the case.
All I see now is Jerefag Roenick talking to Anson Carter, talking up the center ice deal to would-be customers.
There's supposed to be a free preview anyways so I should get the game.
It's not the espn game down here, though.
neelynugs 10-08-2003, 02:56 PM no worries- i'm pretty sure that center ice carries all 3 NHL games. i think the b's game is on 444

Drury77 10-08-2003, 03:25 PM FIrst penalty on Jillson for taking Madden down.....who was trying to breakaway........
Drury77 10-08-2003, 03:27 PM Elias all alone in front of Potvin, shoots wide.
Decent PK thus far..........with 25 left on it
Strafer 10-08-2003, 03:27 PM I tuned into ESPN at 8 and I am seeing the Dallas San Jose game NO Bruins did the B's black it out for the Boston market or is it on another station? Comcast didn't know anything when I called them--Anyone Please Help!
Drury77 10-08-2003, 03:28 PM Huge save by Potvin to end the PP....
He's definitely been tested already......many some easy saves but tested nonetheless.
The game is fiesty tho.......
Pielsman 10-08-2003, 03:30 PM ZibbB, I'm gettin both the Dalla$ game and the Chicago game......but no B's game on ESPN.

lostboy_77 10-08-2003, 03:30 PM I, too, am getting Anaheim/Dallas on ESPN. I fully intend to let ESPN know just what I think of their stupidity leak.... as in what part of New England fans want to see the BOSTON BRUINS, not the friggin' Ducks and Stars don't you dillweeds understand???!?!?!
Freakin' morons!!!
for a minute i thought perhaps i was transported to texas by an alien craft during my nap. after all, how else could i be seeing the dallas stars play the anaheim mighty ducks? who in the northeast would be interested in such a game when the boston bruins and defending stanley cup champion nj devils are playing? so i ran out of my house to look for cactus, cows, and cowgirls. no cactus, no cows, no cowgirls just smelly somerville. alas, i was not in texas. had satan played a trick on me? no, espn was just acting moronic....
why espn? why do you taunt with hockey? why does espn2 not have hockey on opening night and instead have a special on cheerleading competitons? why ? why?
Terry O 10-08-2003, 03:31 PM Hmm, I'm in the seacoast area in NH, on Metrocast Cable and I have the B's game on ESPN.
Drury77 10-08-2003, 03:32 PM Two huge saves by Potvin.....
Rollie gets the puck right in front of Marty.........and can't bury it --- he was all alone...
lostboy_77 10-08-2003, 03:32 PM Hmm, I'm in the seacoast area in NH, on Metrocast Cable and I have the B's game on ESPN.
ahhh...than it is a comcast cable problem. nothing a ticking piece of mail won't solve.
tarabelle99 10-08-2003, 03:32 PM Apparently it's a COMCAST problem (biiiiiiiiiig shocker there, eh?) and not an ESPN "issue"
I'll remember this when I get my bill...... maybe I'll call them and tell them I'm having "technical difficulties" routing my payment to the correct geographical location.
Gator Mike 10-08-2003, 03:33 PM On the bright side...
Wakefield retires the Yankees 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first.
Red Sox 0, Yankees 0 -- Top 2nd.
Comcast s*cks.

Drury77 10-08-2003, 03:39 PM Two good shots by the B's............solid saves by Marty
It's not on NESN either. I'm getting Dallas and the Ducks on ESPN and Wild World of Winter on NESN. I've already e-mailed both of them. Bruins just came on ESPN

neelynugs 10-08-2003, 04:41 PM the quick 2 period recap:
bruins didn't show up until they got that PP from berglund. mccarthy has done well on the physical side. our first line was largely outplayed all game until towards the end of the 2nd. jillson's goal was a beauty- off brodeur's shoulder and into the top shelf. that goal started it all off- the bruins were playing with serious passion afterwards. joe finished the period off with an awesome wrap-around to the far post.
potvin has been very strong- he's made some excellent saves, and honestly, he reminds me of raycroft in the calm manner that he plays. these two guys should get along very well this season. the D has not really impressed me all that much so far. tough to give a report on bergeron, as he hasn't been in the middle of much. knuble looks very confident, and made a great pass to rollie, who couldn't finish. all in all, we need to keep up the intensity in period 3, and pull out 1 or 2 points from this game. let's go boys!!
774EVER 10-08-2003, 04:42 PM Great goal by Thornton.
I hope that he steps out from the back of the net and looks to snipe more often. He drove me a little nuts last year always looking to pass to Muzz.

couldn't agree more...and you know what? i think the devils were totally expecting that, and defended the play as such. if joe walks out from behind that net more often, he'll get opposing defensemen guessing, and that's when he'll really become dangerous. very nice job by the captain.
oh, and i fully expect sergei to put on some sort of dazzling display in period 3 that leads to a goal

Moran just got robbed in OT..........
The OT has been all B's and Jillson has looked really good tonite.
RI.B FAN 10-08-2003, 05:35 PM :handclap: win lose or draw, they look good. I am enthusiastic!!!! :handclap:
Drury77 10-08-2003, 05:37 PM This OT period has been the best period all nite.....
First nite is always harder............solid tie. I thought that Potvin looked good as well as Jillson.
TheGasman 10-08-2003, 05:38 PM Good Game for the Bruins!!!!! NEXT TIME! Now of to the Red Sox
tarabelle99 10-08-2003, 05:40 PM better to tie than lose..
good game for Jillson
neelynugs 10-08-2003, 05:41 PM i thought sammy was gonna undress stevens in the last 2 minutes- he came very close, and stevens fell down, but the puck went astray. anyhow, this was a very good point. devils owned us for almost 2 periods, but the boys settled down, and well, jeff jillson really wired a few huge shots into the net. potvin was stellar in there tonight, and i felt more comfortable watching when you know the goalie will make the saves. once we got the berglund PP, this team really woke up. before that, it was the usual snoozefest brought on by the devils. i liked a lot of what i saw, but i think we could really use berard out there- we need his puck lugging up the ice- we miss girard and berard in that aspect. put your hands together for a very good effort, and now it's on the road for quite some time.
oh- bergeron did very well in his first game. he made a few solid but unspectacular plays- be it picking up his check, or making subtle plays along the boards. sully had him out on the PK, and in the third period relatively late. pang mentioned bergeron several times, and thought he was just as we said- very calm and cool for an 18 year old, and extremely smart. i like it- i like it a lot.
lostboy_77 10-08-2003, 05:49 PM hey a tie is better than a loss. gotta say the play by the bruins improved as the game went on. they played the best overtime i have seen them play in years. especially nice to see sullivan use two d and two forwards, instead of the three forwards and 1 d that ftorek used.
Sleemans 10-08-2003, 05:51 PM I'm happy with the tie, considering how badly the Devils outplayed us for the first 30 mintues of this game.
Felix kept us in there early on. :handclap:
As someone else said earlier our PK was terrible tonight, giving up all 3 goals. In addition to Jillson I really liked Samsonov tonight, he was all over the place.
Now it's on the road for the next 6 games. :dunno:
I would just like to add that watching Knuble tonight, I say he is a legit top 6 forward. Controls the puck very well, he's great in the corners, and knows what to do with the puck when he has it. He's not an amazing skilled player, but he's a smart player, knows himself very well in the sense that he knows what he can and can't do and uses that to his advantage. He and Sammy had one hellva shift in OT, they work good together.
Overall great game, Jillson and Potvin impressed.
Ortdogg 10-08-2003, 05:54 PM hey boys and girls its under way...the 2003\04 season, i thought the game was great.....lots of positives and only one negative. the negative, the bruins pk, horrible, id like to think the only reason the devils got those to goals is because our better pk players were in the box...rolston and green. anyways the positives.
Potvin was great, very solid.
jillson was incredable.
overall desire to win...very good.
i thought the team played well enough to win, for sure.
all i have to say is if the bruins can play like this every night they should have a very positive season. mcarthy looked good, bergeron played solid, potvin impressed me, and green was great in the circle.
THIS IS THE KEY TO ME, REPLACE SAMUALLSON(WHERE WAS HE?)AND HUML(WHERE WAS HE TOO?)WITH LAPOINTE AND ZAMUNER AND WE HAVE A SOLID TEAM.
think of it too lapointe and zams are good pk too.
im happy.......
VirginiaMtlExpat 10-08-2003, 05:54 PM Congratulations on your new PP quarterback. I'm glad that I picked him in my pool. I had a feeling, based on what I read about the previous powerplays in preseason. The trade with San Jose is looking a lot better now.
2 words for tonights game. roller coaster. the devils could've been up 7-0 if not for potvin (GO POTVIN!!). but yet i dont think we deserved less then a tie because we were the better team over the last 2 periods. gill/moran made some sizable blunders but the rest of the 'd' played pretty solid (p.s. if no one is sure how to know if gill messed up on a play check out his expression afterword. he looks like a kid who lost their puppy :D ). thornton was at his mario-likeness tonight. you dont hardly realize he's out there and at the end of the game the summary has him for 4-7 points LOL :D jilly looked like...i HATE to say it...bourque, and NO WAY am i exaggerating. great lateral movement/finds openings well/good patience/can get the puck on the net through traffic. i dont think any of our other 'd' last year looked as good as jillson tonight. i hope he's not just teasing me...boynton was solid but his timing was off. you could definetely tell he'd missed some training camp. the samanator was brilliant out there. other then potvin/jillson, mccarthy was AWESOME. 2 WICKED hits and drew a penalty. he was a large part of the reason why we came to life IMO. i think this will be a game that sully will keep in his memory bank for future reference. something like "remember game 1 of the season we were down by 2 goals once and 1 goal another time but tied it up. if we can do that versus the stanley cup champs we should be able to come back against (fill in the blank) these guys". i thought we did okay tonight. need some work obviously...but there's lots of games left GO BRUINS GO!!
P. Bruinette 10-08-2003, 05:58 PM I, too, am getting Anaheim/Dallas on ESPN. I fully intend to let Comcast know just what I think of their stupidity leak.... as in what part of New England fans want to see the BOSTON BRUINS, not the friggin' Ducks and Stars don't you dillweeds understand???!?!?!
Freakin' morons!!!
I heard about this while I was watching -- that it wasn't on Comcast. I was/am shocked. I also know that Comcast is based out of Philly. I wonder if this is why.
I feel so bad for all the fans in MA that missed the game
Lori, actually glad to have Cox cable for once
WhamBamCam8 10-08-2003, 05:58 PM Turned out to be a pretty entertaining game. I thought Jillson had a good game, offensively atleast....On D he was a little shaky, but not too bad...Bergeron showed some great sense. This kid looks the part, and may be here a lot longer than I thought this year. Sammy 2 didn't see much ice time. O'Donnell had a horrible game, IMO, as did Hal Gill. I really didn't like the line combos too much, but I've seen far worse. Glen Murray looks LOST with Joe and Samsonov on the ice at the same time. Knuble-Rollie-Axe looked pretty decent. I really liked the third line. Huml seemed to not belong when I looked at the lines, but he didn't embarass himself. Green and McCarthy were good. Do-NADA, and Sammy 2 didn't do anything.....Felix the Cat stole this point for us. He stood on his head early. I hope he's in net on Friday, with Rayzor getting a shot on Saturday.
I was pretty bummed to not see Stocker or Grosek in this game. A third line of Green-McCarthy-Grosek would be real fun to watch, and it would be funny to see Stocker-Bergeron-Huml on another one.....I'd really break up the top line though...Samsonov and Murray seem to get in each other's way.
TheBigBadB 10-08-2003, 05:59 PM Ok I have become Jilson's number one fan...Jilson for Calder!!! Nah..just kidding..but what a game by this kid...He looked like the Bruins number one defenseman tonight, and it was his first game!!! Hope to see more of this..and I bet we will...
Travis..is solid...and gritty...
Patrice - Smart player...thats the best way to describe him..needs more ice time...
Donato..why is he playing..looked awful..Stock would have been a better choice....
First line was good...I know they are putting all thier eggs in one basket...but heck if it works...then do it...
Good first game...Lets hope Sully can get the rest of the lines figured out soon...Go Bs!!!
WhamBamCam8 10-08-2003, 06:02 PM I would just like to add that watching Knuble tonight, I say he is a legit top 6 forward. Controls the puck very well, he's great in the corners, and knows what to do with the puck when he has it. He's not an amazing skilled player, but he's a smart player, knows himself very well in the sense that he knows what he can and can't do and uses that to his advantage. Overall great game, Jillson and Potvin impressed.
I have to agree about Knuble. Good points. He looked like the Knuble of last year, even without Joe and Muzz.
Bruwinz37 10-08-2003, 06:03 PM Didnt get to see the game, but will watch it tomorrow afternoon but I like a lot of what I heard.
Also I hope this is the start of the shutting up process of all of you who whined about us trading Kyle McLaren for nothing because Hackett left. Insert foots in mouth any time you would like.
Kyle who?
neelynugs 10-08-2003, 06:04 PM yes- huml sucked, and samuelsson was pretty invisible (aside from 1 hit and a nice pass to bergeron in the crease). sammy2 should go back to providence, as playing 20+ minutes a night will be good for him. not sure what to do about huml, as if he's not on a scoring line, he's totally useless (see: benching of ivan huml, period 3). donato seemed to do pretty well out there, but he doesn't do anything overly spectacular - he's definitely a replaceable piece in the lineup.
SO, dump huml and samuelsson to providence (my opinion, of course) when marty and zams get back. and get stocker and/or grosek back in there, while dumping donato. it gets really interesting when zinovjev and hilbert are up to speed, b/c they are probably 2 guys who are viewed by management as closest to NHL ready. depth is always a good thing...let the decisions begin.
hockeyron 10-08-2003, 06:04 PM Yeh a pretty good comeback effort .......
They really struggled through the 1st and 1/2 way thru the 2nd but the Jillson goal really picked them up and good to see the boys pick it up and get a tie .........
The PK was frightening but again it's just Game # 1 with a new coach and system but obviously 3 goals in 4 tries has got to get the coaching staffs attention ....
Potvin IMO was very solid --- he gave me quite abit of confidence (unlike Shields) and really held the guys in there especially in the 1st period and he had no chance on the fluky 3rd goal........
Jillson and Bergeron impressed in their 1st B's games and both looked pretty composed out there .......... McCarthy laid out a couple big hits....
Still not sold on having Sammy on the 1st line but lets see what happens on the roadtrip .......
Overall not a bad effort -- could have been a more consistant 60 min. effort but coming back to get 3 past Brodeur and tie NJ is'nt too bad for Game 1 .......

Kyle who? I don't know any Kyle.......This really hot stripper I saw was married to a Kyle though!!!! :yo: :yo:
P. Bruinette 10-08-2003, 06:05 PM ahhh...than it is a comcast cable problem. nothing a ticking piece of mail won't solve.
It sure was. I live in RI and we have Cox cable and had the Bruins and Devils.
One heckuva game.......! But, man, they got robbed in OT! Should have scored!
And, who is #23?? I know the name.. but it aint the same dude who showed up in Providence last year. That one put in one good week and the p***ed and moaned and played like crud all the rest of the time. I kept watching and shaking my head saying, "Jillson???"
LMAO when ol' Marty tossed the puck out of his net
Lori
Jeff from Maine 10-08-2003, 06:06 PM I agree with much of what you said...especially that we need to lose Sammy 2 and Huml in a hurry! Both did NOTHING out there!
But I have to add one other BIG negative...
The only line to put any pressure on the Devs to speak of was the Thornton line. Rolstons line features no set up man, and the Green line features nobody who can finish...or set up for that matter!
PK and no multiple sources of offense were horribly big negatives to me.
But it is only 1 game.
Later
neelynugs 10-08-2003, 06:06 PM this PK unit should be top 5, top 10 at the least. sully was a tremendous defensive forward in his day, and he has the parts to compose a very very good unit. axe, rolston, green, zamuner are all top shelf PK guys, and donato has always been a heady player. gill, boynton, odonnell and mcgillis should do well on our backline. i think the 3 goals against is an anomaly, and we will improve greatly.
CFABoy 10-08-2003, 06:31 PM ya, Jillson can work on his d, but he's got a superb combination of size, speed, shot, offensive ability, and open ice hitting ability. He may be the kind of D that you would be willing to take some shotty play over 2-3 game stretches as long as he can have games like this the other half of the time...
OneMoreAstronaut 10-08-2003, 07:13 PM Very impressed with Potvin's performance tonight! This is exactly the thing he AND The Bruins need - confidence. For Potvin, confidence in himself, and for the Bruins, confidence in their new man between the pipes. Nice to see it looks like he'll be carrying over his successes in Los Angeles to Boston!
Tao Jones 10-08-2003, 07:17 PM Nice comeback B's fans. Looks like you got a bona fide player in Jillson, there.
Can anyone tell me how long Sean O'Donnell has been wearing an "A" for you guys?
Thanks.
Congrats on the tie, the Bruins really earned the point tonight.

Ouch--my foot can't reach my mouth, but give me a few months, I'll take some Yoga lessons ! :joker: I'll bet Kyles wifes foot reaches hers though I hear she's quite contortionistic! :D
Qubax 10-08-2003, 08:41 PM Just for interets sake would Jillson be eligible for Calder if he had like a great 35 point season... and actually earned it...?
Killerbeez 10-09-2003, 02:51 AM Ahhhh....where is Mr. Lapointe and his hattrick???? ;)
What is a lapointe hat trick? A groin pull, a fight and strained shoulder?

Panger sucks up to Jacobs
Jacobs spews forth many lies
Panger annoys all of us even more by feeding Jacobs lies.
Panger sucks up some more
Pang tells stupid unrelated story.
Panger annoys even more
Panger annoys me..........
Tell us how you really feel about Darren Pang.
in the net 10-09-2003, 08:05 AM so how did Potvin look??? :handclap:
SToMper! 10-09-2003, 08:11 AM from Bruins Notebook:
ESPN advertised it as "Opening Night," but it left the door shut on last night's Bruins-Devils telecast for 36 minutes, sending the Anaheim-Dallas game to the Boston area instead. ESPN spokesman Mike Humes called it "an encryption problem," in distributing the three openers the network was broadcasting regionally. Viewers missed ESPN's pregame interviews with Sullivan and Bruins captain Joe Thornton. ESPN did, however, have commissioner Gary Bettman on [he expects prolonged labor negotiations] as well as Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs [a genial host who wished the Sox well] after the distribution got sorted out.
It sounded like it was on the ESPN side of things rather than Comcast.
Feeds and uplinks can be really tricky, especially today when things are going out Standard Def and HiDef, there is much more chances for error. I'm sure it'll smooth out quicker than the B's Roster problems! ;)
