This guy is gonna be good..

Does everyone think he'll be a #1 Center some day?

I see him turning more into a Rod Brind'Amour type player. I think that would be a fair ceiling, not to knock on either because I love both players

Antropov, Steen, and Stajan(who can also play wing if need be). Nice little group of centres there. Two have made the NHL team already, in fact.

If any of Volkov, Williams, Landolt et. al can turn out to be something, we'll have a good young forward crop. Easing the post-lockout burden for the young guys will be the continued veteran presence of Sundin and Nolan. Sundin is the type of player who is skilled enough to play into his later 30s, so he should still be able to get us 30 goals and 60-70 points for a few more years. We have a plethora of young defencemen in the organization as well.

Plus our new GM is a development guy, with a highly experienced head scout in Barry Trapp.

Feels good, doesn't it Leaf fans? :handclap:

PepNCheese - Williams and Sagat both played very well at the Leafs training camp, and both together. Williams had 4 goals and 2 assissts in 5 games, I've also seen him compaired to Gilmour for his intensity, size and grit and ability to make his teammates better. I know Williams is 19 and I think Sagat is too. We could see both in St. Johns next year, hopefully playing well together again.

After this season the Leafs will pretty much have to go into a bit of a re-building period. They will have a good young defensive crop - Colaiacovo, Kondratiev, Bell, Harrison, maybe Pilar and Hedin. Plus Kaberle, Jackman and McCabe will still be around (or hopefully will be). Tellqvist will be stepping up at the leafs #1 goalie possibly with Centomo as the backup, and with any luck Todd Ford will be starting to play in and rip it up in the AHL. They will probably need to add some vet. fowards to fill all the holes, but Trapp and his scouting staff should be able to get the Leafs some good, young fowards to play with the defensive crop they've assembled, so with any luck in 5 years or so the Leafs could be in a similiar position that senators are in now.

I agree on most of your points but tellqvist may not be ready for full time duty so we may see eddie for one more year or maybe a deal for one of buffalo's three young goalies

Belfour's contract is up at the end of this year, with an option for one more season. Assuming the 2004-2005 season doesn't happen Belfour won't be under contract and 40 years old, I doubt we'll see him in a Leafs uniform again. And what would the point be in bringing in a young goalie, we'll have one in Tellqvist. If the Leafs do pick up another goalie instead of going with Tellqvist he'll be a vet. And like I said with a young defensive core the Leafs won't be contenders for a few years, nothing wrong with having Tellqvist be the #1 guy, even if he has to grow into the role a little bit.

I was excited about this pick when he was chosen. Steen is a great young player who I feel could be an under rated 1st line center kinda like Brind'Amour was in Philly before the injuries started.

Toronto has a great young core of defenseman and some promising forwards who are still a few years away but the future looks allot brighter now then it did 5 years ago hell even 4 years ago. Our prospect system went from being total crap and one of the laughing stocks of the league to one that is starting to build some creditability back into it's self. Trap and JF will both continue the youth development and Trap has the inside track on most if not all the scouts in the NHL and they will be hard pressed to catch up as he has done his homework on players 5-7 years down the road extensively.

If we can keep alot of these young guys like Steen then the future looks VERY bright for the Leafs...I can't remember the last time the Leafs had this many great young players in their system?.......probably back in the early 1970s I think........'Bout time too.
