Here's Tim Army's latest Coach's Corner. He mentions lines-PP-PK etc.

http://portlandpirates.com/coachscorner.asp

This is how it looks to break down:

Pellerin-Whitfield-Forbes
Ciernik-Methot-Podkonisky
Fussey-Ulmer-Mink
Angelstad-Verot/Parsons-Stroshein/Tvrdon

Note: He mentions Verot is hurt and will be rested. Don’t know if that means he’ll start the season or not.

No mention of the D pairs but if Berry clears Robitaille is probably gone:

Cutta-Yonkman
Hajt-Libby
Zinger-Pudlick
Berry

If you are saying the Berry is the 7th guy/scratch guy, there is just no chance of that.

Sorry not to clarify the D. IMO that's still up in the air. I wasn’t putting Berry as the 7th guy just a new addition to the group. I just hadn’t added Berry into the mix...not really knowing where he fits in with the rest of the D. Berry will definitely start in the first 2 pairs. I was just now looking back to see who he might have paired with of the Portland guys in the preseason.

I figure Libby or Pudlick (Libby more likely) sits. Unless Army goes with 7D or injuries play a part.

Is Berry exclusively a L-D or can he play the right? This is how I think it breaks down R/L…if anyone knows if these guys go both ways jump in:

Berry L
Hajt L
Cutta L
Zinger L
Yonkman R
Libby R
Pudlick R

Maybe Hajt switches over and it’s Berry-Hajt as the second pair. Army seemed to like Yonkman-Cutta and Zinger-Pudlick seem reasonable. IMO Zinger and Pudlick are better all around D-man then Libby.

If you trust the P's roster page Berry and Fortin cleared waivers...

Also note that Forbes hasn't signed a contract yet.

Hey JR...you're going to have to update your avatar....

"In other news, center Trent Whitfield was named team captain, the seventh player in Pirates’ history to hold that honor. Last season, Whitfield set career highs with a team-leading 27 goals and 61 points in 64 games. He finished second in team scoring. He also earned a late season recall to the Capitals where he played in 14 regular season and six playoff games. All-time, the native of Estevan, Saskatchewan ranks seventh in franchise scoring with 78 goals and 108 assists for 186 points in 257 games."

Sweet! :yo:

There was the incident in Caps training camp between Angelstad and Verot but nothing in Portland. Mel and Darcy were on the same line in the P's final preseason games.

Here's and interesting artcle on Verot from last week for those who missed it:

I read those, but thanks for the effort. I did hear from a friend via email that Angelstad attacked someone with his stick at practice but that Verot was not involved. That is all I heard.
