Just sign Matt Millen to another contract extension...

What, another extension? Meh, I guess after 40 some odd years of Ford ineptness, whats a few more.

What's appalling about this DET-CAR game is that the defense has scored all the points for the Lions, if it wasn't Delhomme trying to do his best Harrington impression, the game would probably be over for them.

Polamalu with a roughing the passer penelty. Blatant hit. Wasn't needed.

EDIT---Pittsburgh challenged the TD, so if it is called back, Jags still have a first down due to the Polamalu penelty.

There we go. There's the stupid decision by Parcells when the game matters. The Cowboys passed on third down, so when it was incomplete, the Giants didn't have to use their last timeout.

Holy ****, the Giants are going to give many of their older fans heart problems with their play. The offense was anemic for the first 3 quarters and then just seemed to click with 6 minutes left in the fourth. Brandon Jacobs fumbling? This was a guy we built up as the second coming but he just dropped the ball, literally and figuratively, today. And as Eli Manning's biggest supporter, I must say that today was perhaps the biggest dissappointment I have seen from him in his pro career. He just wasnt sharp or on the same page with his recievers for the better part of the game, but as all great players do he came back and led the GMEN on two clutch no-huddle drives. I'll take today's loss and expect Tommy Coughlin to tighten the ship and make adjustments accordingly but again I saw alot of poise and heart from the young nucleus of the New York ball club.

BTW....the National Football League's overtime method is just awfull. Why cant we just settle this with the college format or some form of an amended college format? overtime

What? College OT is dumb, IMO. Sudden death is fine, less than 50% of the teams who win the toss end up winning the game anyway. It's much more dramatic that way. Putting college OT in the NFL would be like the NHL adopting a Shootout.... ...oh wait...

I dont think so. With college OT, each team gets the same oppurtunity to win the football game. I mean there is obviously an advantage towards recieving the ball in OT in it isnt deniable in any way. Yea, its terrific when your team wins the toss but if the shoe is on the other foot you feel cheated, and rightfully so. I just dont think a coin toss should have the ability to increase one teams' odds of winning. Also, in my opinion college football OT ending are much more dramatic and exciting.

In any event, we can both agree.......Go Pats this week

Just put in Flutie or MCAS before Brady gets himself hurt. The O-Line was playing like crap before, but now we're down to a 3rd string Left Guard because our rookie punched a Bronco at the end of the first half.

The Highlight of the 2nd half is definitely hearing Phil Simms coming up with BS to try and convince us to keep watching.

Pats down by 25:"This is a huge drive for the Patriots, they can get some momentum here"

I was thinking it would be either Rattay or Kitna.

Good move. Nothing against Simms or McCown, but we needed a veteran in there somewhere. This is it for Chris, make or break. He's got a golden opportunity to prove his worth.

Also, AJ Feely traded to San Diego

Dolphins | Feeley and Draft Choice Sent to San Diego
Tue, 18 Oct 2005 13:48:59 -0700

Updating ongoing reports, Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Miami Dolphins have given up a sixth-round draft choice and QB A.J. Feeley to the San Diego Chargers for third-string QB Cleo Lemon.

Anyone want to take a guess to where Rivers (or Brees, I suppose) gets traded this offseason?

My guess is that Phillip Rivers will be traded to a team like Arizona(if they miss out on Leinhart) for a draft pick, or something like that. Or, I could see Brees get dealt to maybe a team like Baltimore. Maybe there could be a three team deal like:

To San Diego: Samari Rolle

To Baltimore: Drew Brees, Quentin Jammer, draft pick

To Detroit: Kyle Boller

or something like that. Detroit finally gets a QB, San Diego gains an elite corner, and Baltimore finally gets their top QB, while downgrading at corner a bit, and getting a DP to boot.

why would Detroit want another piece of trash qb when they already have a slightly better one?

San Diego gets fleeced in this deal as well

Trades like this never happen in the NFL

You consider Boller a piece of trash QB? He had nothing to throw to in Baltimore, finally gets an option or two, does fairly well, and then gets injured. Kyle Boller would be a fairly good addition to the Lions roster IMO.

San Diego might not come out very well value-wise, but it's not like they're in a spot to be bargaining much. They've got two expensive QBs on the roster, one's got to go. Between a DP for Rivers, or losing Brees for nothing, or upgrading at corner, I think they'd choose the upgrading at corner option. Maybe throw another pick their way, or something.

But yeah, deals like that don't happen. Just throwing it out there.

I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but the Vikings have got Toniu Fonoti from San Diego for a conditional pick. They need help on the O-line and Fonoti should offer some help, but I don't see it making a huge difference to their line.

Fonoti was an All-Pro in 2004, he is a monster in the ground game. A dominant run-blocking RG and adequate in the passing game. He is hurt right now and slated to be a FA, hence the low price.

Short term, he may be a lost cause if he can't get healthy. If they sign him to an extension, then they have one of the top-5 or 10 guards in the game today.

Mason and Heap are very good. Don't foget youngsters like Moore and Clayton.

Kyle Boller had Mason and Clayton for less than a game, and Heap was injured for alot of last year. Not sure how long Moore's been there(1 year or 2, or so).

I thought you were saying that Boller has no one to throw to now.

In your trade proposal though, Boller wouldn't even garner a first round draft pick.

Boller has now, but didn't in the past. He only played half a game this season, and actually did fairly decent up untill his injury. It's a shame we couldn't see if he could do well with the new weapons in Baltimore.

And yeah, he likely couldn't get a first, but some type of draft pick is likely what Detroit would give up in that scenario.

If by 'fairly decent' you mean utterly dreadful, then it is an accurate statement.

Boller looked bad in the pre-season and carried his dreadful performance right into the season opener.

It isn't a matter of the weapons around him, it is a matter of being a crappy QB drafted for his athleticism and not his ability. He was an inaccuate QB who made bad decisions in college, he is still one today.

He is looking like a bust. No team is going to offer anything worthwhile for him, not with him carrying a 1st round pick's contract.

Absolutely no way would Detroit part with a pick for another deadbeat QB. Boller is no better than Harrington, I would argue that he is even worse. If the Lions were parting with a pick in a deal that involved a QB, then it best be Brees landing on their roster.

Boller is as hot of a commodity as Harrington is.
